I've been Prepping since the late 70's. Retired, I have nearly 50 years of Preps. A team of close net friends will be here on the farm when SHTF. All team members have skills and supplies to bring with them. I also have some Prepper friends who live farther away that will probably join us because they live too close to large cities. We are set up to thrive.

When the lamp oil bottles get OLD (many years old), the plastic will break down and fall apart spilling the lamp oil. Having all the things you need before things go sideways will allow you to stay out of the stores when they are not a safe place to be.

Glad to see that I've got all this stuff, all the skills to go with them. I am amused by people that buy things like stuffing mix, hamburger and tuna helper. People think using mixes like that is cooking. It is a waste of money. Learn some skills people.

In a crisis situation, I do not want to be in a crowded store with scared, angry, frustrated people. I encourage friends to stock up, but sadly, only one friend has heeded my advice. Another friend became very defensive, but her brother was affected by Helene and I think her eyes have been opened.

I don't talk about end of the world, stuff hitting fans, I discuss shortages, storms, shipping problems, disease and economics like layoffs and missed payments. I've convinced people to garden, grow fruit trees and berry bushes, learn to shoot, stockpile a bit of ammo and have a pantry that gets used regularly. Our neighbors know we have things going on, we've lent out our second generator, they see our garden, they have seen us load the truck to go to the range. Even the grocery store manager knows my wife, only buys big cryovac cuts of meat rather than single or even six packs of cut meat or buys 30 pounds of flour when it goes on sale. He lets her know when certain sales are coming. Their professional relationship started when she was managing a cafe in town and continues even now that she has retired.

I've got a neighbor that still has TP from 2020!
@PatriciaMadsen-cu7wj2 ай бұрын
Growing up in large family with little money…we always stocked TP…I still do. When long lines for Tp at Costco hit the news my son asked my youngest daughter if I was in line…she looked at him askance and said, “No…mom’s always ready”. Ended up helping a neighbor and 3 of my kids….

Don’t forget child/pet friendly pesticides. Weather disasters tend to bring rodents, insects, spiders, etc., into our homes for shelter & food. Watch out for ticks, snakes, etc., hiding in wood you’ve stacked for heat & cooking. 😊

So twice now, second having just happened. Toilet paper, paper towels, water, and sanitizing products. Last time none of those made sense. So many don't stop and think even for a minute. Your list makes sense, but not everyone has common sense.

I am always weary of using bleach to treat water. Too much and you can get sick not enough and you can get sick. Boiling water is best because if boiling cant kill it nothing will. If there are chemicals in the water the bleach can react to it as well. Its a very last resort in my opinion.

Read Matthew 25:1-13. The parable of the 10 virgins. YOU have to be prepared.

If jesus gave us everything, nobody would be homeless or hungry or going without. He has NEVER given anyone ANYTHING. You have to get off your ass and go get it, but if not, you're on the road, dehydrated, and eating out of garbage cans. Don't be stupid and naive. Again, if jesus gave anyone anything there'd be no homeless, no starving, no unemployed, no medical bills, no untreated sickness b/c jesus would give ya everything. Jesus doesn't exist to serve you when you're too lazy to provide for yourself.
