Dan, you're a huge inspiration. I am one year older than Qiang and in 5 months I am pulling the trigger on leaving my M.D. job before the prime of my career (at age 37) and will be doing a 18 month trip around the world, spending one to two months in each country similar to you. After that, I may have several homes all around the world or continue to slow travel. Living in the United States / working a day job is not for me and I noticed this from about 7 years ago. I did things a little differently by investing in rental properties but more so as an accredited passive investor in commercial real estate, my passion is culture, languages, and travel and we need to pursue our passions in life.

@@wanderingdoc5075 Excellent stuff Dan but what if I truly want to kick back, don't want to make extra revenue on the side via youtube or other endeavours I would rather like you did in the past have a big corpus and keep withdrawing from it. @@prashunpcchakraborty70 4% is a good rule. Keep at least a year of expense cash ready, 2 years better. That way if market crash or re values down you do not have to sell low. Some hot had online savings or 6 month T bills for your short-term cash right now. Avoid getting a 2nd ot 3rd home. Will tie you down and force you to feel like you need to go back there. His slow travel is spot on. Why choose, unless you really want to do that. Worst case, you can go back into medical.

Hey Dan, I loved this video. I actually lived in Jomptien Beach in a place called Laguna 3 during covid. While living there I frequently rode over to the craziness of Pattaya but was always happy to return to the more calm and a bit more sane Jomptien! Right now I'm visiting a friend in Lima Peru and tomorrow we are going to see the Nazca Lines. Should be in Argentina by next week! I do miss Jomptien beach though as I really loved it there! ❤

Hi Dan and Qiang, Great comparison video. I am like the both of you and I prefer living in Jomtien. It would be cool if you could differentiate the 3 primary Jomtien areas - which in my mind are: 1.) Jomtien South - which is where I believe you are living. Your videos did a good job of this area, 2.) The Dongtan beach area of Jomtien where the beach road is restricted and very narrow - thus rendering this part of Jomtien to be VERY quiet with BIG shaded areas with lovely palm and cocunut trees all along the beach with great tree protected areas right in front of your beach chair with just 1 to 2 meters to the sea water, 3.) The part of Jomtien beach going north AFTER Dongtan beach - all the way to the bottom of Pratumnak hill to where sois 4 and 5 start. This area is real cool with many great neigherhood bars and trendy restaurants to discover. My favorite is the Checkpoint Market, on PhraTamNak 5 (2 block north of the beach) on the left side. It is an outdoor foodcourt type of individual food and beverage booths. Really cool. Ok, I hope that you both return to Pattaya-Jomtien soon. I would love to buy you both a drink or dinner.

Excellent video/vlog you two. One idea... could you do (I know.. a tough job) another week and go to the next suburb NORTH ... Wongamat/Naklua and see what you think of living there? It'll be a different vibe to Jomtien and Pattaya... though walking distance/baht bus-able. I think you'd enjoy your week and your viewers would find the differences very interesting. Ok one thing you didn’t mention discount clothing stores. In pattaya there is a huge one on 2nd road where you can buy shirts and other clothing for usually $5.00 or less. Sometimes if you are traveling for less than a month it is more convenient to buy cheap clothing than to find a laundry and have your clothes washed.

Hi Dan and Qiang. Will you have time to visit the Phratamnak Hill area between Pattaya and Jomtien? For many retirees this is a hidden gem, off the tourist trail for most people, lots of much quieter beaches and plenty of cafes and restaurants to eat and drink in without the hassle and hustle of Pattaya. Also check out Big Buddha hill and the lookout for great views of the area. Take a look at pictures and reviews of Cabbages and Condoms restaurant, think you might like that. You will do best to rent a scooter for the day to get about unless you really like walking. Enjoying your content as always, regards from NZ, Julian

Another reason why you may want to live in Jomtien over Pattaya is that Pattaya is very noisy for almost 24 hours of the day...: the noise is horrendous... it is not unusual to be awakened several times a night by somebody racing through its streets without a muffler on their vehicle... and the ambulances are at least 3 times as noisy as those in the West... and seem to pass by the area I am staying, every 15 minutes! And the other reason is the pollution... it burns your nose and chest in Pattaya... and you just do not want to be doing deep breathing, or exercise in Pattaya!

All 7/11's have steps into them. 99% of ATMs have steps to get up to them. They can get into the banks in the malls. Except for the Beach they use the roads to get around.
