Yes this is so funny but true. My ex and I broke up months ago. She tried to come back as a "friend". I said no and blocked her. Now she brags to my friends about her life, how happy she is and how she got over me. Yes of course. The real question is, why would someone brag about how happy they are? Someone who is very insecure. Amen.

What I regret most is being so stupid. All the signs were there that this person was toxic AF. Maybe even had NPD (not proven, but I strongly suspect). And yet, I still believed that it was me who was doing wrong, and I kept wanting to make things work. Yes, I wasted time. But I KNEW better than to let all the toxicity and abuse happen. And my other big regret is who that relationship turned me into... I became this simpering little mouse who was afraid to say anything, and when I finally did, I reacted with aggression, out of anxiety and fear. And I was NEVER that way before. I am glad I learned some lessons. But I HATE those two things...

damn. I wish I listened to this before I broke no contact. He won't answer anyway, but it's true. We had a great relationship but he would shutdown and not tell me what was wrong- built a story in his head that I wasn't interested and started to distance himself. He made terrible reasons why it wasn't going to work all having to do with my flaws and bounced so Fast and ghosted. It left me completely confused and hurt as he had spent so much time working on us being together. Not a fan of this experience at all

This sounds exactly like my story.. Then I realized, and I hope you do as well, that this person is dealing with deep seated insecurities within himself that they are pushing out onto you.. Why hurt the person that is closest and most loving of you? but he did.. I knew in my heart of hearts it would not work out, so, as painful as it was I took the steps to move on, of course he lashed out, but It was never going to get better until they heal their insecurities.
