I love this puppy. So calm. And I hope people are starting to realize that treating our puppies like the dog we want him or her to be is the only way to go. No baby talk. No sometimes rules. Great adventures! I will absolutely take this course when I'm closer to being able to get a dog. Thanks Will, for letting us see a bit of the process!!

So exciting to see this video. My dog is well past the puppy stage but still helpful. Just a note, it has been found in the last several years that unless your dog has a grain allergy, grain- free food has been connected to potentially life threatening heart issues. This has been proven and any vet or veterinary cardiologist can discuss it further, but just wanted to throw that out there ❤️

Well,I'm quietly impressed with myself. I've had dogs all my life but have never really followed any formal training as such. I've gone mainly off instinct. But watching your video today,I pretty much have bought all the correct equipment and everything my girls need. I did make the mistake of buying expensive beds ,which my frenchie devoured 😂. Not making that mistake again.😂 Most of the more expensive stuff is beyond my price bracket, but there are cheaper versions which are just as effective. My gsd is going through her rebellious teenage stage so we're having to back track a little and redrill some bits but it's nothing we can't overcome with patience , consistency, and perseverance. She isn't a barker just atm and,given her personality,I think she'll be a more placid dog. The only thing I can't seem to get her to do is stop jumping. She doesn't consistently jump up,just tries it a couple of times and then she'll stop,but it only takes once for her to knock me or someone else flying as she's going to be on the larger size for a female. so, I'm looking forward to watching how you stop this behaviour . Also, I'm using a headcollar atm as she does pull and again,is going to be a very powerful dog,so looking forward to seeing how you stop this behaviour. The headcollar is an absolute godsend and she walks beautifully with it on,but I don't want this to be a permanent solution. I want to be able to loose lead walk her at my side without the headcollar so,will be watching this journey faithfully. Your advice so far has made me far more confident that I'm doing the right things, mostly, so onwards to my perfect adult companion. And thankyou so much for allowing us to watch this journey. I'm sure I'll learn so much ❤

38:11 hi will, I had a long haired german shepherd and found the ferminator didn't work very well for their coat type as it seemed to make their hair wirey/rougher/tougher texture than using a rake or a pin brush. I might be wrong but it looks like reggie will have a similar coat to her so i just wanted to give you a heads up

Hey Will! I just got my 4 month old puppy, he is a Cane Corso and Staffordshire bull terrier mix. He is so far very stubborn. Right now I am trying to train him to sit. How should I go about it.
@mtrcyl1360
@mtrcyl1360 Ай бұрын
I could be wrong man I'm not a pro. But I would start with establishing a food lure. When the dog follows your hand knowing there's food in there, you position the dog and while He's sniffing your hand for the food move it up over his head so he sits. Reward the sit with your "yes" marker and give food. If he just keeps backing up to get the food gently encourage his rear end down and when he sits again yes marker and food. Once he's got the food lure down for sir, start pairing it with the "sit" command. Don't just start off saying sit a million times because it'll devalue the command and he has no idea what your saying. Idk if this helps bur that's my 2 cents

Is there a reason you chose to take Reggie at 8 weeks and not, say, 12 or 16 weeks? I’ve heard that the longer they are with the litter, the better socialised they will be?
@MaineGirlOutdoors
@MaineGirlOutdoors Ай бұрын
From what I've read and understand, by 8 weeks the puppy doesn't need milk anymore and has learned some key foundational social/behavioral lessons from mom and litter mates. Any younger and you're nearly guaranteed to have an ill adjusted dog-temparment wise, but around 8 weeks is great for the pup to bond with you. It is easier to form that bond and leadership around 8 weeks than if they are older. Not that it can't be done, obviously. It's just easier. Your pup would be crate and potty trained by 12 weeks if you start at 8. Plus .....the tiny cuteness! 😍🐾
