Thank you Will. It is one of life's mysteries as to why companies such as Black and Decker produce such abysmal instructions.

Thank you so much Will, you’ve saved me a lot of confusion here. I like many others have just bought this (15t Jan 2024) and took a look through instructions only to find the parts aren’t identified at all. Your video is absolutely fantastic and very clear.

Thanks so much. Nearly returned this! Useless instructions and when I phoned b&d they sent a KZbin link for a different bench with different parts! Your quick and easy to follow set up was ace, thanks again.

I lasted about 5 minutes with the instructions and thought "Nope, somebody else will have explained it better than this!" and I was right. Thanks for sharing - you're a gent. 👍🏻

Thank you so much Will. I read the instructions wrong and attached the handles to the rods and then wondered why the rods wouldn't screw in the the bench! It took me ages to bang out the cotter pins and start from scratch 🤣🤣
@willcta1Ай бұрын
Glad it helped, yes I get a lot of comments about the cotter pins and now wished I had focused more on them, but I knew once they had been knocked in, I wouldn't be able to show it again, it's amazing all this time later the video is still getting comments daily, so happy it's helpful.

This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!
@ak2010utube10 ай бұрын
Getting the pins in was a real struggle for me too. I ended up taking the spindle out and placing it on a brick to get something solid behind it to drive the pins in with several good wacks from the hammer. Was worried too about the plastic breaking but luckily no damage done.
@eddyrourke55145 ай бұрын
OMG the pins were a nightmare, 1st one went in halfway after a struggle but the 2nd just did not want to play ball. I ended up pinching the end of the pin with a G-clamp then hammering it just till it was a in a little bit then I used the G-clamp to push them both in all the way. One thing is for sure, they are never coming off!

Thank you so much for this video. I've never assembled a Workmate before. I looked at the instructions and couldn't make any sense of them. I thought it would take twenty minutes or so, but it was taking all morning! There were parts that didn't seem to be mentioned in the instructions and I had no idea what I was supposed to do with them. After an hour I thought "I bet some helpful soul has made a video on this subject" And there you were! I now know exactly what to do and I will have time left over to have some lunch. Many thanks :)

Great video and clear instructions. Black & Decker should sponsor this video. But I just wish you'd shown how to put the pins in as that is the bit I'm stuck on. They won't be knocked in with a hammer. Just thought I'd add that the pins provided were not cotter pins but (I'm doing my best to describe here) a short, hollow cylinder with a slit from top to bottom. One end is slightly bevelled. I think I'll probably just grab some cotter pins when I go the hardware store.
@willcta12 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenny, yes that is a cotter pin, another commenter has suggested a spot of oil helps, just hold the handle in place and maybe get someone to help, then a bit like a nail, give it a few taps into the hole, split bit facing in.
@Nerderella30000AD Жыл бұрын
In case anyone else is looking up for comments/explanations about the cotter pins: definitely easier teaming up with someone else! Also, we slightly squeezed the end of the pin with some pliers to get it started. Good luck!
