At the beginning of 2021, I bought a Voigtlander Bessa R2 for about 500€ (should be around 600$). I've always wanted a Leica M6, but it's way too expensive. So I looked for alternatives and found my Bessa R2. And I love it. Tbh, I bought it because of the Leica M mount. So I can buy lenses that I could also use on a Leica M camera. I love the build quality and the rangfinder feel. I have never regretted buying a Voigtlander.

If you’re hung up on the external viewfinder perhaps the Bessa R4m would be the next best thing to an m6. Built in light meter, multiple frame lines fully mechanical par the light meter

For the multiple lens situation, a good alternative is the Leica VIOOH Imarect Viewfinder, it is a multifocal viewfinder that was used for the Leica series 3 cameras because for example, with the built in viewfinder it was impossible to compose with a wide lens, a longer lens or a big 50mm lens, the VIOOH is really easy to use, the just small difficulty is that the measures of the focal lengths are written in centimeters opposed to millimeters but it is a small insignificant drawback! Great video, well done! Post Scriptum: The VIOOH can show the frame for a 35 mm lens, a 50, a 85, a 90 and a 135

Bravo William, Good Choice as the Image is more important as in whatever you are using.... Even you have to get use of the Bessa T, Hey get this when I was in High School, that I had to use my Dad's Contax IIa with a 50mm 2.0 Zeiss Sonnar as that was my go camera, then now 50 years later that I got myself MY Contax II, and III with both 50mm Zeiss Sonnar 2.0 along with my 35mm 2.8. and 85mm 2.0 lenses for these models, Still have my Dad's Contax, but it is in a Display Case in memory for him by saying to him Thanks Pop for allowing me to play with a Rangefinder... Miss You Too.

@@Voyager45 hey random, but i’m looking at picking up something from the bessa R line, you think an r3m is worth the price difference over just like the R?
@Voyager452 жыл бұрын
@@curtiswhitman9611 Personally, I wouldn't pick up an R since it has an entirely plastic body, and I don't believe it has a Leica M-mount. However, the R2M/R3M/R4Ms have significantly increased in price since I purchased mine a couple years ago. So, if I was currently in the market to pick up a bessa, I would probably go with an R2. Metal body, M-mount, and still looks sexy. Although, I absolutely love the 1:1 viewfinder in the R3M as I like to shoot with both eyes open. I guess it all just depends on what you need/want out of the camera. Decisions, decisions... haha Very curious which one you'll pick.
@curtiswhitman96112 жыл бұрын
@@Voyager45 thanks for the feedback. Ive bee reading about the Rs plastic body, I think ima gonna go for an R2, its cheaper than the other and has the 35mm framelines

Hey Willem! The trick with the lightmeter is use it while you are watching through the viewfinder, it work fine with my Bessa L (little sis of Ts and Rs bessas) and a 21mm skopar. Regards from Spain ✌🏼
@PS-lh1ml Жыл бұрын
Second to that. Had the same impression as Willem in the beginning but naturally started to keep an eye on the lights to adjust the exposure while focusing or framing.
@richardmayberry59053 жыл бұрын
I have couple of Voightlanders - an L and R. I chose them because I already shoot with L39 lenses, and that just made as much sense as shooting with film! 🤪 The L has neither a rangefinder nor a viewfinder, so that makes things interesting. I do like the light weight of it, and it makes for a very portable match for my Leica and Canon lenses. The main attraction is the light meter - the same as with the T. I rather like that I can set exposure and focal range before even lifting the camera to my eye! The R is more conventional - more like an M6, but one heck of lot less expensive - and much easier to load and shoot than my IIIf Leica. They are all fun, and that’s what it’s all about for me!!!

The Bessa T, along with the Bessa L remind me a lot of my grandpa's Leica IC. External viewfinder that's unrealistically bright, add-on rangefinder, no frills.
@adamkocka-patchik45453 жыл бұрын
The Bessa is really tempting. Actually was looking into the r2a today but came to the conclusion that if I'm going to use Leica lenses I might as well get a Leica body too. The M5 is pretty affordable since most people aren't a fan of the design. I think I'm going to get an m5 eventually. Either way I hope this setup suits you! Can't wait to see more of your work on this camera.

As a short term ex-owner of the T, I would say just save up and buy something else. The whole “look at the light meter, focusing with the patch, framing with VF” thing feels sluggish, at least for me, unless you are using long lens that need accurate rangefinder. The cost of the VF also adds up, and it directly link to the enjoyment of using this camera, so you really need good ones.

Funny how you make all the detriments of the camera sound like desirable features in terms of the viewfinder. The Bessa T was in my radar for a bit but I didn't like the quirks and chose the Konica Hexar RF instead to use LTM and M lenses. It's affordable, highly advanced and great for the street. Also has a 1/4000th shutter speed for shooting gazelles on the run if you like. I will buy another one if something happens to the current one. It's real good!
