@Omgbbqhaxlolol21 күн бұрын
I've also learned that ag affects wand dmg so it is still usable in that regard, don't know if it's at all viable, but I do wonder if there's a warlock build out there that's all about applying dots and using your wand, stacking like SP + AG. I have no doubt it's not a great way to play, but I do wonder if there's a setup around that which would still meet minimum reqs for raid dps. Undoubtedly this falls off after you start getting dungeon gear, as it's mostly greens you'll find with that stat combo, but it has me curious as to what could have been. Warlocks already feel weird, it feels like you're supposed to summon a fire orb and melee while your dots are ticking, because they have some really strange effects, like your imp's fire shield, you get demon armor for extra hp5 armor and shadow resist, the fire orb which encourages the use of daggers which would benefit from that and an enchantment. There's so many odd abilities and talents for all the classes that makes you wonder what they could have been if they managed to flesh those out a bit more and make them work. A warlock chasing you with a demon in tow while he curses, stabs, and burns you sounds like it'd be pretty scary and cool haha.

@ugoboomАй бұрын
the pserver turtle wow did this a few years ago, mostly 1.12 but they put in these 2 spells, despite kevin jordan revealing they never ever intended for these abilities to be alongside the vanilla seal system. This crusader strike ended being used like Hamstring spam on a warrior, serving to proc stuff. GCD locking paladin caused a lot of issues. Holy strike inherently has a double dipping problem as it benefited from both physical and spell modifiers, that caused it to be wildly unbalanced in weird conditions. Sure 1.12 paladin can be improved by anything really. But uncutting these 2 abilities as is, turns out is foolish. Turtle wow has now settled on Crusader strike being like TBC, and Holy strike turning into a cool unique weapon indepedent support+tanking strike. It's a far better system.
@Notpoop906Ай бұрын
@@ugoboom From what I heard that is why they took it out (the GCD locking). They wanted DPS Paladins to be more of a hybrid / utility spec and giving them on use melee attacks meant people would just spam those and never want to throw out a heal or seal/judgement or whatever.

I thought for sure that you'd talk about shaman's having real tanking functionality in the alpha. And how it was removed just before launch. With a few aspects being missed by the devs. Such as Rockbiter Weapon and Earthshock generating extra threat. The reason why they scrapped it was due to not getting the coding to work to link totem aggro with the shaman. It was too late in development to revamp them. So, they stripped them instead and left uf with an awkward and broken spec.

Why wouldn’t they just fix it in an update? Classic has such a shortage of tanks, especially on horde. Maybe they just thought people would be upset about such a big change?

@michaelbowman6684Ай бұрын
@@garretthunter2916 Paladins being "objectively the best healers" is entirely due to numbers, as shown by Illumination being nerfed in following expansions to give back less mana on crits. They otherwise had incredibly barebones healing capabilities, no AoE healing or HoTs unless you want to count Judgement of Light somehow, Blessing of Protection has a long 5 minute cooldown between uses and requires coordination becuase it stops the target from being able to attack for the short 6 second duration, they have two instant heals in the form of Holy Shock which needed to be talented into as a capstone ability on a 30 second cooldown, and Lay on Hands which drained all of your mana on a hour long cooldown. They mostly just spammed Flash of Light and Holy Light on the Tank and put 5/15 minute duration Blessings on people while using the Aura that is good for the situation, that was their entire purpose.

Vanilla shipped with BoK as final retribution talent in 2004.... the paladin would be a normal holy paladin, but with ret talents for this buff, with no greater blessings present you did not do any healing, you just spammed 40 targets with BoK on 5 minute duration... that takes 60s alone, than you rest your mana for a minute (because water is weak in vanilla) and than spend about 2 minutes running to catch the raid group.... and start buffing the dead people first and the rest later. The Witch Doctor and the Shaman abilities were squished into the same class, so it is clearly from there. I assume it was changes into Searing Totem to make all totems look alike instead of having a unique model for it. I do think it is sad. The biggest thing that killed Warcraft was the “shortcut”. Taking the thousands of hours that we vanilla players took to learn our toons and then just giving it away in a few hours to new players was the beginning of the exodus. Sort of like graduating high school and demanding equal pay to the guy that has worked forty years at the same job. It’s just dumb the skill levels are NOT the same. Easier does not mean better.
@LasseRafnDkАй бұрын

hate to say it mate, but if it takes you thousands of hours to learn to use 4 buttons, you'd be in over your heard in even regular quest content nowadays. Destro lock was not much different. Boomie was troll, Shadow priest was troll, Ele shaman was troll... The whole game was relatively broken when it shipped. Paladins could proc their seals without a weapon. Remember "Rec-bomber" Paladins? Where Reckoning would proc an extra swing if you were crit, it could stack infinitely and last forever, so Paladin would duel a Rogue, stack Reckoning crits and the proceed to one shot world bosses. That made it to live. They eventually "fixed it" where it could stack like 20 times, then eventually to 5. For Pvp It was hilarious to watch hunters get destroyed because their pets non stop crits, producing extra swings, Plus SEAL OF COMMANDS extra swing. 😂 Hunters and their "dead zone", warlocks were the worst class by a country mile. Enhancement Shamans were completely op and broken and never changed. Warriors had one counter class and that was mages. Oh and I played a BM/Surv Hunter was pretty good with, so much so that when Bestial Wrath was added, it made him broken, due it lasting between 12-18 seconds of cc immunity.

Especially when spells like consecration or sweeping strikes are in it and those abilities themselves already improve aoe threat generation for tanks and don't really change but improve the classes overall play style.

@@otrikas Most abilities are good but not important enough to build into their talent trees, players are mostly looking at the passive talents to improve their play style and build.
