One other great thing about Shaman in Wrath is that at level 20 Shaman can learn Water Shield, making leveling as Elemental and Resto far easier. And at level 30 once you complete your Wind Totem quest you can turn the totem reagents into a Relic to save up bag space as soon as possible. Along with the fusion of some spells and totems, Shaman leveling is far better now.

Personally I'm a big fan of the skirt/kilt look for Shamans, particularly Elemental and Restoration (not so much for Enhancement, it looks a bit impractical for them). It fits the whole "armoured magic user" vibe really nicely.

About the spell-hance: During a portion of WoTLK OG beta Lava Burst was instant from maelstrom weapon. This actually made the spell damage fist weapon along with focusing on spell damage over melee VERY strong for enhance until Lava Burst was removed from the maelstrom pool.

@@WallaWillie Spellhance was never about outperforming enhancement. It was about averaging it out. Instead of putting a good portion of your damage behind windfury procs. Which you could run real hot and proc it off the internal cooldown. Or you could get unlucky and see nothing happen for a minute straight. Meanwhile Spellhance is getting the consistent increase to damage through more spell damage and flametongue procs and other spell effects. Idc if spellhance doesn't have the melee burst damage of enhancement. I want the consistency it brings. Not to mention, having dual spec elemental/spellhance is a LOT easier to gear than elemental/enhancement.

Great series. Shaman was one of my off night projects. Ended up raiding everything earning all the titles with several raid teams and played shaman exclusively for BL back then. I really enjoyed raiding as resto. I've been eyeballing focusing all my attention this time around as shaman. The question is will I find a new group that will want another sham.

Resto shaman can heal heroics without casting a heal in wrath. Healing stream can heal over 600 per second. AND stacks endlessly.

Let's be honest, you can bring 5 shamans to Naxx 25 and probably toc25 too without having issues. Shaman is a decent heal and dmg throughout the expansion, doing a pretty solid mid to high dps, no need to think they are bad now, feel free to take them for your raids.

No, their dps is rock bottom and heal shaman is bad too, at most you can bring 2 shamans, spellhance spec is way better than the rest, but most people wont use it for loot issues. Tho if you are not aiming for achivements or heroic do whatever you want.

Played shaman in WoTLK the first time around, and with the right gear you become a healing monster in ICC. There's the trinkets, the weapon, the set bonus from T10, the Glyph to make Chain Heal better, Earthliving weapon, the buff from riptide... Basically they all stack, and there's the "Chance on direct healing spell" stuff for the mace "Trauma" and the trinkets "Glowing Twilight Scale" and "Althor's Abacus" that get 4 chances to proc off every chain heal, and in raid content you can absolutely pump HPS, and the best part is you just focus heals on the tank, and let chain heal hit the melee group, and then anyone within 10 yards of those guys end up covered in hots the entire fight. There were times where my screen would just be a sea of green numbers popping up from damn near everyone in the raid. I didn't play the other healing classes in WoTLK and by the time I played them, all this gear was obsolete, but this setup was God Tier on my shaman.

I leveled a shaman alt during wotlk just so I could one-shot people as elemental in BGs lol. Was so much fun sitting at the back one shotting people with a 3 button rotation. And riding in on a mount just to push everyone off cliffs haha. Tried boomkin as well but didn't feel as epic. The cast times were kind of long on the big boom spell. The burst damage from ele shamans felt so good in wotlk pvp and the whole rotation was super fast.

Back in the day, as an ele I was constantly at the top of the meters. Now.... I was flooded with gear being the only mail caster in the raid, but also top performing a lot as well. I believe ele can and will top many meters, as long as the player is good. But also, in dungeons, ele is a monster of a class.

Shaman has always been a class favourite of mine. The style and flavour of mastering the elements like Thrall (the fucking demigod) is just too good. All the specs feel great and pvp wise totems are quite frankly OP when used right. You have similar utility to a sub rouge while having the punch of a caster and the defence of a melee. I genuinely believe if it were not for the introduction of death knight, shaman wouldve been the clear and cut best class outside of tanking and in pvp wouldve been almost entirely uncontested. Its thier only truly bad match up where no matter what spec or style, you will almost certainly lose against a competent DK

What do you reckon will be the "shaman of tbc" in wrath in terms of class demand? I think shammy demand will sustain as you want bloodlust in 5s,10s,25s. The excess will reroll to dks/pallies or already has rerolled to pally. It's incredible the amount of pallies nowadays.

Shaman is top tier in terms of fun. The toolkit is massive, you are the closest thing to a true hybrid at all times, the new talents really feed into hybrid playstyle and you still have most the insane totems of classic before they all got Thanos snap hyperbalanced in Cata.

Yeah, as a former altaholic for years and years in WoW I eventually got a Shaman past level 20 (48 currently) and I've had a good time with it. You can pretty much do everything besides tank dungeons but I couldn't care less because I play solo 100% of the time unless my wife is playing. Tried dungeons but I honestly can't stand playing with random people and not really interested in raiding whatsoever (did raiding back in Vanilla-TBC and found it to take too long as my wife and I have two children). I get bored of doing one playstyle so I generally add a bit into each tree, the talents that are universal for the most part and it's worked great. Sure, I'll never be the best at anything but at least I can do everything for the most part without changing characters.

Spellhance will start to shine once TOC drops. Getting Reign of Misery is a must for that spec to work, the thing is back in wrath you could equip both the normal and heroic version. which i believe will be removed. Those 2 trinkets, with 2 very fast spell weapons and flametongue on both are the main things that make that spec work. With only one Reign of Misery im fairly sure that normal enhance will be better

Pretty much every fight besides anub because I'm not allowed to use my best heal.... other than that, I outperform holy pallies every week. And it's only gonna get better in ICC as I exceed 1000 haste :) Do the top guilds build their entire healing roster around holy pallies and give them every advantage? You bet! Are you in one of those top guilds? Probably not

I know there's been a lot of videos saying resto shaman is a bad candidate for Valanyr, but with the ICC set bonuses it's absolutely INSANE. Some people have even solo healed Heroic Lich king with it.

Every healer can solo heal LK with enough gear and raid dps. Paladins benefit the most by far from valanyr. The thing allowing healers to solo heal this fight are rets and shadow priests. The shadow/s will also use shields. It's not really a solo heal at all when the solo healer isn't actually doing 100% of the healing... More like 40-60% in these "solo" fights. Also, this is on warmane and warmane is not a totally accurate representation of how classic wotlk will be.

Skill nerf seems a little misguided? You still have all of your important totems to place as and when you need them. Putting some preparation and memorisation into the presets will reward the shaman with better spell usage and mana efficiency. Not doing so could potentially waste a lot of mana or waste much more casting time replacing totems with better positioning. As the totem durations will be synced you can much more efficiently time totemic recall to get the full mana efficiency or mean that you’re not just standing there for 5 seconds refreshing buffs at key output momemts

In my opinion the removal of fire nova was horrible for shamans pvp-wise. Before there were a talent in elemental tree with a 2s stun if the target were hit by fire nova totem. It was just one of those extra bit of CC lost.

I remember leveling my shaman to 80 and the instant I got the Level 80 achievement I got an invite from my guild m8s to go directly to ICC 25 man. They needed one more shaman for the slimes fights just because the anti venom - purify totems. Yes. That night I became just a glorified totem.

As much as I loved Shaman in Wrath, the amount of people who already have one level 70 and want to take it into Wrath despite the demand drop will see, however, makes me think it will be one of the hardest classes to get a raid spot with, especially considering that aside from the raid utility a single of each spec can bring, they don't really perform that spectacularly, so stacking them makes no sense.

I raided as a shaman in original Wrath. But of course it was different in those days. People didn't care as much about min/maxing. I don't think I'll push my luck this time.

I'm sure each shaman spec has its advantages.. Especially enh having improved totems for melee that dk can't give.

​@@courtesan8784 I'd imagine for fresh it'd be alot easier to roll one. While servers moving from TBC will have a hard time fielding all the Shamans even with people re-rolling a lot of people don't wanna put in the effort to re-level again so they will just stick with their set of classes they already have. Fresh will be spammed with fotm classes. Likely will have DK's, Pallies, Locks, Mages, Warriors, etc. BUT BUT BUT in Wotlk you're not just vs your own class there are a few classes that overlap on all the buffs for the most part. If your raid has a Frost DK and a blood DK or a Blood/Frost Hybird tank you might not find spot in their raid simply because they cover all your buffs as Enhancement and Resto will cover the other ones. Like Spell haste and MP5.
