Have you had tough jobs like this air conditioning pump install? Bruised and aching for a few days Matt ended up having Eric join him on the way back because the weather got a bit sporty and he didn't want to be on his own trying to get into the slip at the marina!

I'm a retired auto mechanic and did all my own boat repairs on my boats and a few friend's boats. I laughed when you said just a five-minute repair. I have spent an hour just trying to get the slider to unlock so I could get in.

This is my 4th or so video I've watched of y'alls tonight after finding you. What I love about your work is the attention to detail like zip tying the hose clamp and wrapping them. It's the little things that matter when you're 500-1000 miles from home. No shortcuts taken!

Snap-on makes a great tool for loosening hoses from barb fittings, gives you a lot of leverage without damaging the hose. Great job under difficult conditions !

I use an angle pick that I slide around the between the inside of the hose and the outside of the fitting. But on smaller hoses I also use a push off tool. It has 2 v shaped articulated pieces that start out together and the push apart with the handles. Kind of a lever to push apart the hose from the fixture. Since it shoves against the open end of the hose it causes the hose to lose some of it's tightness against the fixture. Look up hose removal tools on the web. Good luck!

your videos remind me why I stopped putting chiller plants in yachts. They can stick stuff in the worst places. There were times I thought the engineers had challenged each other to see who could pack the most crap in a hole.

Looking at used trawlers under 42 feet. What is the best one to buy from a maintenance and quality perspective?
@WillFixThat
@WillFixThat 2 ай бұрын
It’s not necessarily about the make it’s about the material condition and the reoccurring maintenance that was kept up on obviously, some trawlers cost more than others the first one that pops into my head is a Nord Haven, but fathom makes a pretty good trawler also

Amen boss, train up someone to get after the level of work you do. by what I gather from you, your going to expand a great deal, got some one worthy as superintendent. job foremen. I had a supper I was to call him no matter what in the wee hours of night, give him the run down, did it for a long while. My job was to keep him in the know, and to follow his directions to the letter. it wasn't perfect, but it did help in preventing things from falling between the cracks. Chain of command......be wear of building bigger barns, it's Biblical.....

Yeah we’ve tried a few times to hire sups but it gets too many people trying to direct and gets frustrating for the guys. We use to have a crew of like 13 some years back.

I know you get it all the time. But here it goes. Retired owner operator ,heavy equipment mechanic, 59 years old, and my body aches every day. Let the young blood in that compartment and you hand tools and advice to them. They can do it. So, as far as those hose and hose bibs go, I used to use the longest Cotter pin puller that I had along with lubrication or penetrating oil sprayed on the puller as I slid it up between the barb and the hose. It may be a little bit dangerous in your situation, but can you use a small little butane torch to warm up the hose for removal and install?
@WillFixThat
@WillFixThat 10 ай бұрын
You’re definitely right about the aches and pains on the body! Agree about the young blood depending on the job!
