Thank you for viewing. My name is Frank Iosue. I am a published poet and a lover of poetry. I produced this video showcasing "Pictures From Brueghel" ( 1962 )...a striking series of ekphrastic poems written about 10 classic paintings by the Dutch Renaissance painter, Brueghel The Elder, by one of the most important, influential and prolific poets of the 20th Century....William Carlos Williams ( September 17, 1883 - March 4, 1963 ).
Born in Rutherford, New Jersey, William Carlos Williams was an American poet and physician of Latin American descent, closely associated with Modernism and Imagism. Williams practiced both pediatrics and general medicine. He practiced medicine by day and wrote at night. Williams produced dozens of volumes of poetry and prose. His most anthologized poem is "The Red Wheelbarrow", an example of the Imagist movement's style and principles. He was a recipient of The Bollingen Prize in 1953. In May 1963, he was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize for "Pictures From Brueghel and Other Poems" ( 1962 ).
This video includes a biography of Williams, a biography of Brueghel The Elder, and the audio of me reading the poems....along with the text of the poems, and accompanied by attendant imagery and music, to enhance the experience.
I hope you will enjoy the video and these beautiful poems. Please consider subscribing to my channel, remember to hit the "Like"👍 icon, and feel free to leave a comment. Thank you, so much, for viewing.
