Mr William Joseph, thank you so much for this song. You stirred memories that I had put away and I am proud to remember my dear Comrades in Arms. I am an American Soldier with 24 years of service in the Infantry. I am retired but work with G I's who are suicidal which I was at one time. Recently we had some luck with a fellow who had 5 deployments during the past 6 years. For myself in 24 years I had my share but the moment I am very proud of occurred on October 27, 1961 I was one of 88 American soldiers who faced in excess of 1500 Russian soldiers at CP Charlie. We were told that we could nott surrender, we had to stand our ground, that the Free World had to have someone who would fight for them and die if need be. We were volunteers and we knew the score. Our officers were courageous and included Colonel Wayne Windor and Captain Norman Schwarzkopf. We did not expect to live through the night. We stood fast and you are free. There are 11 of us left as of now.We in that group loved you enough to die for you and I just wanted you all to know that. God Bless you all.
