A Sharif thank you... I don't recall sharpening it as a chisel but I don't recall sharpening it at all! I think I just took the rust off and the original bevels were asymmetric

William Nease Tip profile is actually super cool and would work for some basic digging chores too. Pretty sick machete.

Good video for when you're up at 3 in the morning bc of allergies. It's fun to watch you cut w such precision...your 50% is still way more efficient than my 100%

C amber It is pretty interesting to use this and the Solid back to back. They use so very different swings.

what u are testing is hugely similar to what we Asians call a "watermelon" knife- a longish, narrower & lighter version of a Chinese chopper. most are flat-ground, but chisel-ground versions are not unheard of. most frequently used for heavy chopping of tougher vegetables like large melons, sugar canes and pineapples stalks.

k wong Thanks, not a lot of watermelons here but references are always useful.

Cliff, I gotta ask. What do you do with all that wood after it's cut up? You may have answered this before, but I am really curious. Cool looking blade. You must have so many large choppers by now assuming you don't get rid of them.

B0scov A lot of it it burned, other parts of it is used as mulch.

Daniel Z I was a huge fan of the series when it first came out, never read the manga. I don't now if I enjoy the abridged series even more than the original.

As a quick aside, as I understand it, you frequently mention safety in these types of videos. In this one, you mention that heavier blades tend to be safer than faster, lighter blades. Have you had any injuries, or near injuries, from lighter blades being deflected toward you?

Daniel Z Yeah. See that clip where I am holding the wood and clipping off all of the small limbs. I was doing that one time and not paying attention and swept the blade right along the tips of my fingers of my off hand. There is a continuous scar running through my finger tips where they were all split.

Damn that was a close call! I'm so glad that didn't end worse for you! Thanks again and stay safe.
