William Optics FLT91 Unboxing and First Thoughts!

My first KZbin video! Watch as I unbox the William Optics Fluorostar 91 and give my initial thoughts and impressions. Special thanks to Agena Astro for getting this scope in my hands quickly!

I notice that you left on the "Visual" extension tube. You may wish to remove that in order to have correct back focus for your camera. I spent 2 months trying to fix my back focus for my camera when a Facebook member told me to remove the visual extender tube. Problem solved.

Mark, thanks for the comment! And yes I added a snapshot into the video (6:00) saying I had mistakenly left the visual extension tube in place. I'm glad that I caught it when I did. I could see that being a major pain for sure. Thanks for watching!

That is a nice scope... I recently purchased the GT71 an I love it , the only thing WO could have done was included a rotator. CS

I have the 120 and its sharp. I compared it to my TSA 120 and it performed very close to the Tak's performance! My understanding your 91 is guaranteed to have at least .95 strehl.

Hello, I want to ask if there is a way to remove the dew shield of the FLT91 scope? I know it can be retracted but I'm trying to remove it to be able to put it in a travel bag. Can you please share with me if that's possible and how can I do it? Many thanks,

Hello, I looked in the user manual and it does not mention instructions on removing the dew shield. I am sure it can be done, but I do not have information on how to do it properly. Sorry I couldn't help you there.

Hello, Hope you are enjoying your scope. Quick question about William Optics Adjustable Field Flattener 68III # P-FLAT68III the one that has zero focal reduction. Does it work on the FLT91 and does it support astro dedicated cameras? because in its description they say it is designed for DSLR full frame cameras and for refractors F6 and above? that's why I got confused! thx

Hi there! I have seen some other folks in forums and maybe a few on youtube using that flattener. And if memory serves, William optics has info about it for the FLT 91 on their website. I think it works, and threads directly to the rotator, where the 0.8 reducer flattener comes with an adapter for the smaller threads. I considered getting it when I purchased my setup but decided to wait and possibly try it later. It is a wider flattener from what I understand and that is why it works well for the larger sensor full frame cameras. I would read the documentation on the FLT-91 and make sure you can achieve proper backfocus with the camera you have, and would contact William optics for clarity on any questions you have. Or even someone at a retailer like high point scientific. Those guys know their stuff. Thanks for watching!

That is why I bought a Celestron instead. But the scope is very nice. Just more than I wanted to spend.
