I can't get over the magnificent use of silence in this work. Back in school, oh so many years ago, the teachers taught that negative space, void, absence, whatever you'd choose to call it, is just as important as what is added to the canvas. Here it is silence and the talking is what's added, and that is minimized. The combination is powerful.

So many years ago is right! The hyperinflated, unnatural pauses emphasize perfectly the discordance this dialogue has with reality. No one talks at this pacing and it looks totally bogus. @ASDasdSDsadASD-nc7if People actually do talk like that especially in moments like this that would take a lot of thought and would take some time to process how he feels about this situation it makes perfect sense for the pauses people don’t talk fast all the time and not everyone talks before they think and even when they do most don’t do that all the time either. The pauses make it feel more real than if they were to just blurt out everything without taking a breath or a moment to think. Your statement does not make sense and is rather childish.
@nanac65155 күн бұрын
@@ASDasdSDsadASD-nc7lfthey’re also doing more than just talking they’re expressing with their facial expressions and their eyes you can see on his face he’s processing a question that he wants to ask and death can see this there’s so much more going on during those pauses if you actually watch their faces it’s far more nuanced than them just being stupid and pausing for no reason. The silence adds much more depth than just adding more words. It adds not only a moment for a viewer to think but to show that the characters are taking by a moment to think and that they have a understanding going on in between words and it also leaves up to the viewer things to interpret ourself from there conversation what was his last question we don’t get to know but we can guess we can fallow his face to see that he has many questions maybe so many he couldn’t pick one or didn’t know if it would be alright to ask there’s just so much more to this scene than what you chalked it up to be. No it’s not perfect and maybe the pauses are more dramatized but not so much that it’s completely unrealistic or unbelievable or as you put sounding like a dullard. It’s still a good scene that the main comment was making a good comment about. And this mostly unpunctuated rant at 4 am was probably unnecessary but I get really annoyed at people making stupid comments about things they really didn’t take the time to understand before putting something or someone else down and your comment check that mark in my book at this time

An average story held together by actors who are at either ends of their peaks (Pitt emerging still, and Hopkins going through a brief decline). It's fine, but anyone that thinks this is the best scene of all time clearly doesn't know very much. Not to sound pretentious, but there's just better examples within the genre alone. Death was the epitome of he blinked once, and it was last week. Phenomenal acting, despite being a slow movie it kept your interest and attention the whole way through.

Let not yourself be troubled, for you are mortal and all mortal beings must pass away, but do not think death is eternal nor a finality, death is merely the door way between physical mortality and spiritual infinity, thus leading to eternal life, one must accept physical death in order to achieve true immortality. "For lo I say unto you, the one who would save his life shall lose it, but he that loses his life for my sake shall save it."-Yeshua

Curious, why didn’t Yeshua have a scribe with him? And why does his father allow children to suffer so horribly? And why use a conflicted Hellenistic Jew to hijack this new religion from James, who had walked and spoke with Yeshua, while Saul never met him , except for a temporal lobe seizure. Just asking for a friend, so don’t burn me with a sulfur crown.

Yet you blindly believe in Alexander the Great. A man who no-one wrote about until 300 years after he died.
@miguelservetus95342 ай бұрын
@@mogrowneyiv7306 I don’t know if Alexander lived or not. I don’t worship him as a god. If he existed he was a human like you and I I do not want those who claim he is god to tell me how to live my life because of their belief. Nor to burn me at a stake with a sulfur crown as Calvin did to my name sake because he questioned the Trinity.

My gods, shut up. You can't even see a story about a fictional character without inserting your own imaginary friend into it.

@@kennytinker24 At the very end of the book of revelations it is implied that the being that is talking about how God is cast down to his people to forever be with them on the new earth, is from the perspective of Death, whom leaves there to either go somewhere new or be on eternal holiday.

The biggest problem i have with this movie is that if you see death in that way, it confirms death is not the end. And it changes existential fear of not knowing to at best some nostalgia for soon to be end earth existence.
