This is about how much power it should have for the mods. They won't lose much if any power from having higher miles assuming it's been maintained and is in good mechanical shape. They aren't gonna drop 40 rwhp on a sub 300 wheel car just because it is over 200k unless it isn't running correctly.

Air quality and tuning plays a big factor when it comes to dynoing these cars. It can be difficult to narrow down what actually caused the car to have less power, despite the modifications.

B heads suck for Na horsepower when compared to C heads. Way to much port volume for such small displacement. With less cam timing, the later tumble port castings put down more power at all rpms.
@midnight347 Жыл бұрын
@@madmodthey do but you can make over 290 to the wheels with a b head with intake, headers exhaust and tune. With a ported short runner and throttle body I've seen as much as 315 rwhp from a b head. They like rpm once you have a manifold that can make power at rpm and not fall off.

@@midnight347 Ive tested short runners on B heads and unless you are shooting for 8k rpm or more, C heads with a standard cobra intake will produce and support more power. It used to be it was cheaper to find B head stuff but now either can be had cheap.

99 Cobra = the lawsuit Cobra
@midnight347 Жыл бұрын
Do you even understand what it was that made the power issue? Most people don't and highly exaggerate the issues. All it was is intake manifold casting issues and catback issues once the catback has been changed and the intake manifold is changed or ported it'll make as much power as an 01 with the same exact stuff. I think they were all fixed they basically changed the catback and ported the intake to put it above the 320 hp rating. That is what the fix consisted of. No big deal just alot of people don't really understand what the issue was and think there is something wrong with the engine itself.
@24theMoney8 ай бұрын
@@midnight347 I fully understand the 99 Cobra issues. It took a class action lawsuit to get the Ford off their duff to fix the problem. Don't think Ford would have made Quality Job 1 if they didn't have lawyers involved.

So dumb to take out the IRS, it’s called upgrading your halfshafts, not very expensive.
@midnight3473 жыл бұрын
There is more to it than just upgrading half shafts. You need the full tilt boogie irs bushings to fight the awful wheel hop. It gets pricey. It also weighs like 125 lbs more than a solid axle. The old irs in new edge cobras wasn't all that wasn't like the s550 irs. It was super common back in the day to ditch it for solid axle if you like launching at the drag strip. People did it alot on all the new edge cobras terminators included. Between half shafts and the full tilt boogie setup it does start getting expensive. Some people just wanna shed the weight and add reliability on the drag strip. If the car isn't setup as a corner carver the irs really isn't needed. Even if you want a corner carver the solid can hold its own look at the boss 302s.
