I shouldn't think there's any existing depiction of Harold Gidwinson to work with (and certainly not Harald) - he was not only an Anglo Saxon king (and there's not much left by them), he was also the loser, which means he sadly got erased from detailed history to an extent. I agree though that's a shame, it'd be interesting to see/know about him.

With King William, the country was able to enter history, like other countries such as France, Spain or Italy, and thus begin a rise through history until reaching an empire. The fact that English contains many words of Latin root, demonstrates a Roman mentality, that is, conquering and civilizing, something that the Protestant Nordic peoples, such as Holland or Germany, lack, more focused on race and nationalism.

hear is one thing. people really shouldn't trust statues and carvings that were made around 900s-1100s. if you notice one thing, most of them have unnaturally long noses and a lot of distance between cheeks and mouth line. I don't mean people with these descriptions didn't exist back then or don't exist now, but the fact that all of them around that time seemed like that, is really weird and hard to believe, especially when even Ancient Greek or Roman pieces seem to have much more realistic faces. which makes me believe it was only their style or beauty standard for people in high positions. so, although I might believe the shape of their lips or eyes, but I don't believe all nobles back then, had that kind of noses and faces

Not to excuse William's character, although it must be examined through the lens of medieval kingship which was pretty brutal by modern standards, it's worth noting that he was devoted to Matilda for the entirety of their marriage, and had (as far as we know) no mistresses or illegitimate children, quite unlike his descendants, notably Henry I, who had plenty.

Well, this is a very PC view of Viking invasions 😁 From what I know the Vikings wanted to invade Paris. The king of France placated them by gifting them what became Normandy if they did not destroy Paris. And yes they took local wives because it was an army of invasion, they did not arrive with women. So their children learnt their mothers' language (French) which means that the Scandinavian language quickly disappeared.

Coins don’t really depict the look of a monarch especially in the early medieval to the dark ages. They simply are poor representations due to the lack of artistic aim to have realism. The nose shape though might be true but the generated face is kind of impossible for any human to have.
