I put one on my CC ftg 600. Love it! I put a wooden handle over the metal handle. Works great. I also fitted some of those cheap dollar store scrapers on both sides, "permanently" to deflect the heat from the side trays. All fits under the lid when closed.

I bought a couple of 1/2” spacers to fill the gap where it screws on to the hood. It gave the hood more stability. With the hood down. It helps a lot to bring griddle up to temperature.

Thanks! I think you are the _only_ person on KZbin to do a video about a Camp Chef hood! It was helpful to see how it attaches, because I'm reading some reviews that mention an X cross-beam the updated FTG600 has, so some hoods don't work on it. I'm about to buy my FTG600 from Amazon, so I don't know which version I'll get! But it looks like this hood will work with either version.

Thanks for the video. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed I have a Blackstone 36 inch grill and my propane tank is on the left side of the grill with the side tables when you are facing the grill will this video help me?

Sometimes I think even Einstein would have a hard time reading the instruction booklets on some of these accessories. Don’t sell yourself short! I don’t think it matters which side the propane tank is on. Just be sure when you order the lid that it’s specifically compatible with the Blackstone 36 inch. There will be an area in the instruction booklet that you’ll follow for your specific unit. Thank you for watching and commenting and appreciate your support. Yes you can. The cover will ride higher about 4”

Thank you for watching and commenting. Unfortunately I do not know of a good cover. Mine is kept in the garage at all times. Just do some measurements and check your local home-improvement store like Lowe’s or Home Depot and you should be able to get a good cover.

With the lid open, does it block wind from getting through to the burners from the backside?

Sorry to say that the cover does not act as a wind barrier when in the open position. When the letters in the open position it does not cover the gap leading to the burners.

Hello. Thumbs up on the hood. Have done a lot of cooking. It’s held up well and works well (would be better if it was insulated and smaller vent in the rear). I still recommend it for anyone with this unit. Thank you for watching and commenting.

@@SmokinwithKasket I do worry about the rear venting. My CC is pretty close to the house. That does seem like it would funnel the heat more towards the house. I wish someone made a hinge kit for the diamond plate hood like I have.

Sorry for the delay. I don’t own the unhinged version but the one I have (hinged) works great! Not sure if the unhinged model scratches the top and back of the griddle top but, there’s no Teflon coating to worry about and keeping all surfaces seasoned would hide any scratches if there are any and wouldn’t even be noticeable I would guess. Can this lid be used on a regular camp chef that has the 2 burners and you can add the griddle top to? I got a black weather cover for it, but it's letting moisture in and I spent an afternoon this past spring dealing with the rust it created. Boo! This camp chef looks like a blackstone and that's not what I have.

Hi Mary thank you for watching and comming. Unfortunately this cover is the design specifically for the four burner FTG 600. I do not know if there is a cover available for your model. Also this cover will not keep the moisture out in fact there is a substantial amount of venting in the back of the cover. just be sure to season the griddle top very thoroughly when you were done cooking and it is super hot. Hello. I do not know the gauge but I can confirm the metal is thin. They could have installed an insulating sheet inside but they didn’t. Still, I don’t regret the purchase. Video was good and a good review of the product. However, if I’m going to spend that kind of money on a hinged hood for the camp chef, I would want more functionality with it. With the Camp chef griddle also doubling as a grill, I’d like to see where it would create a full seal all the way around to serve for when I would use the grill portion. But just as a cover for the grill, ill stick with my cover that I’m currently using, thank you for the video and review.

I keep my griddle and all my smokers actually, in the garage. I do not have a large cover that I throw over the whole griddle. I think I’ll buy one soon though. Just to keep the dust debris off the shelves and the lid.

Definitely true. But it’s the feeling of building something yourself and know you have implemented better quality than a mass produced item. Also this is great project if you have lumber laying around your garage.

The 4 burner (36”) Blackstone does not come standard with a hard cover. It’s sold separately like the Camp Chef.
