This is my fav personal cook set. I also put one of those disposable 6 inch aluminum pie tins on top of the larger cook pot and as the water is heating it acts as a double boiler of sorts and heats my beans or whatever at the same time. The tin also acts as a lid on the heating water. I carry the heat in the yellow container instead of inside of the alcohol burner. Never know when a leak might occur. I keep two Esbit cubes as back up inside the burner. I would keep that cube holder. It really weighs nothing and helps keep the Esbit cubes closer to the bottom of the pot.

correction red bottle heat is methyl alcohol. yellow bottle heat is isopropyl alcohol. big difference. live up in cold country, have been paling around with a primer pan for this setup. so far alid from a mini altoids tin is working best. next thought to get the primer pan off the ground is to place the stove legs on a couple pieces of 1 by would about 4 - 5 inches long under the legs. place the altoids lid on a 1 x 2 chunck to get it off the ground as well, or even the altoid tin bottom.

I bought that sweet little Esbit cookset for my husband's Father's Day gift a couple of years ago. Still going strong. Great set up for day walks and day fishing at the lake or river. Enjoyed your video - the out takes are a fun touch too.😎

really great product... watch this video when it first came out, and tonight searched it back down... really like this set, going to purchase it for myself for my birthday, and I can pretty much buy anything I want... and this is exactly what I want!

I really like how you can have the fuel in the stove and you don’t have to carry your fuel separate 🙂 Great review👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks

Really? Steel wool? You use that to clean up and you're going to ruin the anodizing. Get yourself a green scrub pad from the Dollar Store. It won't rust, and it clean out any stuck on food without damaging the protective coating. If you don't you'll end with bare spots that will oxidize very quickly.

Fill the stove to the top to break it in ????? I have used home made alcohol stoves since the 70"s. Then the Trangias and sometime during that time frame one of the Esbit Cook sets ( it packed smaller then the Trangia cook set ). When Evernew came out with the Titanium alcohol series ( Appalachian cook set ) I went with them. I NEVER filled any of the stoves to the top to break them in. None of them ever needed a break in period , just tried each one before leaving for the trip. If it works with 1/2 ounce or less of alcohol it will work with any amount. The only alcohol stoves that are a disappointment ( to me ) are the Vargo's. You have to fill them most of the way ( about 90 % ) to make them work. Any less then that and they will not work like they should. Blow them out and start all over. My fuel of choice is Denatured Alcohol since i can get large cans of it. I also use food grade alcohol ( Diesel , grain natural spirits ) 153 or ( Everclear )190 proof ( Both from Liquor Stores ) . It does not have any of the poisons that's in the denatured alcohol or Heat. So the fumes will not bother you if you cook in a confined area. It can also be used as a disinfectant , just don't scream to loud when it is applied. Alcohol stoves have no moving parts , are light weight , simple to use , quiet , clean , effective and convenient for fixing a hot meal.

Chuck Littleton its recommended to do so on the first burn to clean any debris that might be present from the milling process I myself dont do it all the time
@pamelaklemp56154 жыл бұрын
Chuck, when using any liquor store products (everclear, etc,) be certain to either use all that you take with or Discard Whatever Remains before driving anywhere with it. An opened bottle, even when used for stove fuel, will get you a DUI in most every state if stopped by law enforcement. Not to preach at you at all, most people don't know this. Just giving a heads up about how badly an open bottle carry can go bad quickly for that clean burn.

@@pamelaklemp5615 Open container laws are quite different from DUI laws. Getting charged with either one would not be fun but knowing the difference between the two is important.
@pamelaklemp56152 жыл бұрын
@@allemander Knowing the differences between the laws are mostly good after-the-fact in a courtroom in front of a Judge. On the roadways, in front of an Law Enforcement Office is NOT the time to argue your knowledge of the laws or your case. I seriously stand by my previous comment.

@@pamelaklemp5615 If a cop is arresting someone and charging them with a DUI solely for having an open container (which are two very different offenses), when the motorist has not been drinking, especially after articulating their use of the spirits were for cooking fuel while camping, then that badged, kidnapping, predatory road pirate is not only failing miserably at his/her duties, obligations & responsibilities as an agent for public safety, but he/she is ultimately doing far more harm to the public than good. Back the blue ’til it happens to you.

Couple of comments. Heat is the best fuel for alcohol stoves. Around here it's cheaper than denatured alcohol. You're a Buschcrafter and you and Chris must have a dozen knives and axes between you and you couldn't carve out a flat spot on that demo log?? :-)

Lab grade ethanol is the best burns clean and longer but like I said it's expensive and the setup on the log didnt need a flat spot it was stable I was just worried about it for a sec thanks for your comment and view
