High Speed #541, was the last WMS pinball made before the YM2151 came along and changed the sound of Williams pinballs. :-)

You know your Williams Sound. =) The Yamaha YM2151, also known as OPM is an eight-channel, four-operator sound chip. It was Yamaha's first single-chip FM synthesis implementation, being created originally for some of the Yamaha DX series of keyboards. Yamaha also used it in some of their budget-priced electric pianos, such as the YPR-7, -8, and -9.

@@dr.davespinballrestoration3764 I used to repair and design arcade games, now I design casino games. I used the 55536 CVSDM (continually variable slope delta modulation) telephony speech chip in my own designs. For music, however, I went with the YMZ705F wav player. I would *LOVE* to design and code a modern pinball machine instead of doing casino stuff.

@@rickpontificates3406 Ask Stern if they're hiring, seems they add a coder every year or so to their roster.

@@wildernessgames The last time I saw Gary Stern, he wasn't as perky and optimistic as he was the first time I met him in the late 1980's. I love pinball and I would DIE HAPPY to use my engineering skills to design a modern pinball, but the industry isn't what it once was... oh, and they're in Chicago. I live in Vegas (so I'm stuck developing casino games)

I've got many requests to do another one of these. I need to find another candidate first though.
