Fascinating fact. It’s estimated that he’d have a similar century break count as Higgins today, if he had been as bothered to make them over his earlier career. He used to be only interested in making sure he’d won the frame and would play an exhibition shot when he reached this point, more often resulting in the break ending.

Sir Alex's clearance is still №1, but that break could probably be the second. Just incredible! Also feeling bad for Tom. There's something that he missing to be a top player. Lose two frames on the respot black, being 4-8 down and still bring it to the decider, just to lose it like that in the end. Feeling really bad for him.

I was there live at the venue watching this happen. Ford will be kicking himself as he missed a relatively straight forward pink into the centre which let Williams in for this clearance. As soon as he came to the table I thought, no way, as the 3 reds on the cushions and the position of the blue meant this was going to be a series of smaller breaks, not the break that happened. Absolutely brilliant!

Huge last red. Rolling through was bound to leave it on if he missed... Or at the very least leave a safety for Ford to put him in trouble. The way he played that (even though it wasnt on the cushion) - and the blue - tells me he fancied the pocket to take them down the cushion. He played many balls along the cushions at pace the whole tournament.
