That was great, thank you. Willie Carson says he wouldn't have considered himself a natural jockey, but he certainly was a natural horseman with a great deal of empathy and understanding of horses. It was lovely to see the race at the end with Nicholas Bill carrying top weight being just beaten on the line by the horse Willie was riding. I worked for Henry Candy when Nicholas Bill and his younger brother Master Willie (2nd in the Derby) were there. I rode Nicholas Bill several times on the gallops and at exercise, he was a wonderful horse, top class and an absolute star.

I remember Willie riding a horse called Balinger at Newbury. Willie pushed and shoved the horse 12 furlongs, eventually he got horse running and he won. What a superb ride from a top, top jockey. Hope you are well

Yes I remember the horse well it won a race at Royal Ascot in 1975 and won 5 or 6 races on the trot as a 3 year old! Think it was owned by Dick Hollingsworth?
