As a grown man I will freely admit that when we lose Willie I will sob like a child. He’s my musical hero.

He's one of the last great C&W entertainers left. My wife and I saw him in concert at a smaller venue a few years ago and he put on a great show, especially when you consider his age. He was in his early to mid eighties at that point and an elderly lady in the front row stood up and hugged (attempted around his neck) him while he was performing and truly almost brought him down into the crowd. His people kept him upright (barely) and he avoided getting too close to the people down in front for the rest of the show. When you listen to him talking and joking most people wouldn't guess he's close to ninety years of age. He's still got a heck of a great sense of humor. God bless Willie.

My mother and I went to see Willie some years ago, and just before the end of the show, I brought her up to the front of the stage to get a good look at him up close. When we got there, he started into "HEY good lookin" and pointed down to her. I will bet you a shiny penny that he would have no recollection of that, but my Mom will remember that little act of recognition and kindness for the rest of her days. Thank you, Willie. You're the Man!
