But leave it to Willie to pull it off. If you've never owned a horse or two you'll never understand just how majestic an animal they are. To stand in front of one and have them put their head on your shoulder is unadulterated love and trust. To run your hands down one of their legs, with their veins popping out in their leg muscles is unbelievable. When the Good Lord created these noble beasts He knew exactly what he was giving us. We on the other hand had no idea what uses we'd have for them to do. Only Willie could capture that spirit, that feeling and put it to music so beautiful, it would bring a man to his knees. God bless this American hero who doesn't really see himself as a hero at all. Just a country boy making music. To me, he is what all men should aspire to be. I was raised in Yantis, Tex on a large dairy farm, we used our horses to plow our fields, my grannie was a master at it she could hold the refines and knew just how to hold the plow and communicate with Dan and Ann our Belgium’s. It’s been 50 years and I went and visited my grannies grave and the horses and dogs grave. Animals are the best at love us unconditional, humans could use a lesson from them. I Love it! I met you and Mickey in Pedernales (1986) back when I was on the road with Sweet Savor. My son (6) was freaked out that you said, "Hi there, Jesse!" .....he looked at his mother and said, "He knows my name"...(he forgot we all had our names on our matching shirts). He told the waitress at supper, "Willie Nelson shook my hand". She said, " Well, you better never wash that hand!". That night I went in the bathroom. He was in the shower with his right hand sticking out. I had to explain, "That's just a saying." I still laugh when I think about it. God Bless You, Willie!
