Hi Willie - I’m a world traveler and development professional and wanted to say that I love your style of content. Rather than being an “entertainer” like most vloggers out there, you do an economic/development/cultural/geographic/social analysis of every place you go to. Your insights are deep and I actually learn a lot from them, even as a seasoned development professional. Well researched as well. I’m a content creater myself (see my channel for my videos) and am looking to focus more on a style like yours rather than being an entertainer always in selfie mode.

My dream of visit Cabo Verde one day. If I start speaking Papiamentu( my language) probably they will understand me 80/90% of it! Example! We on the islands of Curaçao/ Aruba / Bonaire call fish in Papiamentu piskà. In Cape Verdean Creole they call it pesh. We have many words that come directly from Cabo Verde.

Papiamentu and Cape Verdean Creole are very closed. I speak Cape Verdean Creole and I understand probably 75% of Papiamentu.

Good job. Very interesting. As Senegalese, I have been several times in Cabo Verde (Praia and surroundings, and Sao Vicente). I like this country : the landscape, the people, the discipline and the cleanliness of streets and public places.

It is fascinating that such a beautiful place is almost unknown; under the radar. I've never been there but at times; it felt like I was in Brazil again (i visited once). The architecture looks similar than some brazilian small towns.

Assomada is home to Pr. José Maria Neves, but his parents are not originally from here. They are from Fogo and São Antao island.

Cape Verde is such an interesting and unusual place. On the island of Boa Vista, you can see one of the most unique forms of integration among Africans. I honestly think it’s the strongest example of pan-African integration in all of West Africa-I’ve never seen anything like it. What’s strange, though, is the divide. The wealthier areas of the city are mostly controlled by the Italians, who dominate the economy on the islands. It’s like what they’ve done in places from South Africa to Nairobi, using exploitation to stay in control. On the other hand, the African side is fascinating. You see people from all over West Africa living side by side with the local Cape Verdeans. But despite this mix, there’s still a noticeable tension. They rarely allow mixed marriages, and you can sense a deep-seated dislike or disdain toward other Africans from the locals. That’s why I think this is one of the strangest examples of integration I’ve come across.

@ well is fake integration unfortunately. Cape Verdeans see Africans as savages and that’s will never ever change because they’re the most Stubborn people I met. They do accept whites or any other races expect black Africans.

Cabo Verde is quite expensive. They set 100% tariffs on imports and the costs are passed on to the final consumer. But at the same time the minimum salary is 150 Euros and the population is living there.
