There's nothing to be outraged about. They enjoy what they are, they like black phenotype, they are suspicious and feel detatched by other African countries or general African identity. This is absolutely the norm. The Africaness comes from the colonizers gaze, an outside perspective. Actually the less brainwashed Africans are the ones that don't see themselves just like their western conquerors saw them , "just black"

When Carla talk like that, she needs to be clear. She is a group of them. Even Caboverdiano coming from outside are complaining about those people. After our independencia in 1975 , from Portugues colony we were 5 countries.4 of us started getting more envolved with another African country flags, dresses, pictures. Started teaching at school things from Africa. Cabo verde was not doing it. Or if they did it was very few. We can see now the result those people are very confused they do not know what they are , they do not know theAfrican geography too .Even those are dark skin ,they get a lot of descimination from light skin. They have lot of problem about skin color. It is terrible. I like Cabo Verde Government they are working very well to compare with another 4 countries.

This is very pedestrian to say the least. Comparing common human vagaries to a structured system of hate that has eliminated millions in the world is really disheartening and a total lack of understanding of the meaning of racism. It shows the little you really know. There will always be wranglings within humans but a structured system of hate that regarded others as semi - humans shouldn't be compared with normal human squabbles, because they are not. In all the cultural and ethnic differences, the only race that came up with a structured system of hate was the white race. And that's what we are still suffering from today. The residue of hate they left behind during slavery that mopped into colonialism is still hurting everybody today.

A black person should not be determined by the colour of the skin but by the true knowledge of his or her black history. Throughout history to date black people have made this mistake of associating blackness to skin colour and it has cost them dearly. It's through true history(not the compromised one we are taught everywhere) that a black person truly and unapologetically claim to be black. That's where the, Identity, self-esteem and belief in themselves come.

Listen, I’m a Gen X who was brought up in a (San Vicente)Cape Verdean household. Let me tell you, growing up in Senegal W Africa, every body I knew despised “mainland Africans” and liked to call themselves Portuguese. You have to realize, Cape Verde was one of the last African countries to gain its independence (in 1975, not too long ago in retrospect). And Cape Verde until not too long ago, had a flag that affiliated w/the African colors. But then, they decided that they would rather ally w/the European colors. So that tells you everything. My family vehemently forbade us girls to date “those black ppl”. There is a strong push to “whiten” the race. And anybody in this thread who tells you otherwise is lying. Cape Verdeans are sell outs. The media's portrayal of Africa as a poor or desolate continent mirrors their depiction of black Americans in the media. This representation is not only unimpressive but also contributes to a state of denial among black individuals, shaped by the system designed by Europeans. It's absurd that someone can print papers as a currency in exchange for raw natural minerals like gold or diamonds from other countries. This is the core of the problem! They live in Africa and yet see themselves as better than others on the same continent because the Europeans decided to entrap them in a different mindset. Turning brothers against each other is a problem for us as a people.

Even though people mistake me for a full blooded Native American, Hispanic , biracial I’m black and proud. I was insulted when I visited SA on a family trip and they called us colored . In America we are just light skin black people

I'm CV born n raised in MA, USA.. Tho I may not speak creole, most us born here by default identify with the culture of our environment. That's not to say we ignore our roots, but it's easy to receive backlash from your own ppl especially if they are from Cape Verde n realize you may not speak the language or are "Americanized". So ignorance and confusion persists. The confusion being by way of physical features or appearance, and again, cultural perspective. I AM, WE ARE "black" or African ppl, and most certainly part of the melanated human family. Start there people. Because when you're in America you can easily be confused for what you are not if you think like the many colonizers we all have. They still call us "n*gger" in whatever language it can be translated. So don't let your black *SS be European minded. PEACE

Those girls are very smart and sound highly educated. Of course there are many people in the country who discriminate against other Africans. But I think that is part of human nature. Every group of people have biases about other people. Even in the mainland Africa, there is tribalism. Each tribe thinks they are better than the other. But with education, people ‘s minds open and accept each other.

So you are saying that it is not only acceptable to hate those who look like you but to love those who have historically abused you. Interesting. Sounds like Stockholm Syndrome to me.

Thanks Willie. Almost ALL Cape Verdians come from Africa, precisely West Africa, Senegal, Guina-Bissau, the exact ppl these women describe as to be avoided and not associated with at all costs. Portugal the former colonial master is seen as supreme, good and to be associated with. Ufnortunately, the latter doesn´t agree. Remind of of many AA/caribbeans who told me they are not Africans, just black and even those try not to be associated with dark skin, black, black. Africans in and outside the motherland, we are in trouble, bc the best thing in this world is actually to be who you are,and being black, being African is the best thing ever happened to you, you just don´t appreciate yourself, nor your richness inside, outside, and under your soil, therefore doomed to appreicate others who dislike you, hate you, unlive you so much they care about you! Watch african content creators guys, its 2024. No more cheap excuses. Every african country/region has thousands of videos from locals showcasing the real, beautiful continent. You own it to yourself, ancestors, children!!!
