Willie Nelson and the Boys (Willie's Stash, Vol. 2)
Buy/Listen - WillieNelson.l...
Willie Nelson plays a vital role in post-rock & roll country music. Texas-born Nelson is an icon of the ’70s outlaw-country movement, favoring a stripped-down style that could both evoke desert-highway vistas (“On the Road Again”) and initiate the most intimate of conversations (“Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain”). He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the genre, whether that was Merle Haggard or Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash & Kris Kristofferson in The Highwaymen and written some of Country Music’s most popular songs including ‘Crazy’ made famous by Patsy Cline. In the 21st century, Nelson’s outlaw ethos has continued to manifest itself in all sorts of surprising ways: He’s become America’s most visible pro-marijuana activist and Snoop Dogg’s unlikeliest duet partner.
About the album:
Following in the musical footsteps of 2014's 'December Day,' the first volume in the Willie's Stash series (featuring Willie's Sister Bobbie), 'Willie Nelson and the Boys' is another family collaboration, this time showcasing Willie and sons, Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson, performing a selection of American country music standards and classics, including seven penned by Hank Williams Sr.

I have loved this song since I was 12, (now 26) and has been my favorite song ever since, I have been called an old soul quite often but I am not ashamed to say that this is my favorite song, a week ago I bought tickets to see Willie Nelson at the greek theatre on the 24th of April, which has been a bucket list object since I was 16, I wanted to experience him live, even if I had to travel to the US to do so. Now that I have the tickets to see him live if he plays this song I will probably cry, and I will do so without shame, because this song is truly a masterpiece worthy of tears.

garrisonhill1 I like listening to old country music, I listen to as much as I can when it comes out. now the newer country music coming out I don't care much about, when they start putting rap rock and now country music doesn't make sense no more it don't sound like country.

Heck, I'm man enough to admit it. It teared me up a little bit. That son of his (sorry but I don't know his name, YET) sounds just like Willie but cleaner. His voice is amazing. I didn't hear what Willie sounded like when he was a young man, but I can imagine he sounded just like his son, before all of the weed smoke possibly having an affect on his voice. Even though I still love the way Willie sounds even today, regardless of the smoking. Hopefully Willie will be around for a while longer. I would love to see all of these guys play together one of these days, live.

I wonder if Lucas and Micah know special it was to sit in that studio and play the song their Dad created and sing with him on camera and have it recorded for history. Most of us have no video at all of our dad, no iconic song our dad wrote and hold on just no memories. And yes, how dead on Lucas sounds like his dad. Some is copying his dad's tone, but certainly genetics is there. Of course no one will ever match Willie with his style and absolute mastery of lyrics.

What a pleasure to see all three Nelsons singing and playing lovely music together. The background information about Lukas as a ,10 year old asking his dad what he wanted for his birthday. Willie, of course encouraging his sons to play guitar.....really touching. And of course Lukas wanting to make his father happy, took it on. My son is a great guitarist and remember buying him his first guitar when he was 14/15 and between a few lessons and his own practice and determination, my son, now 32 plays the guitar like it was part of him. I never tire of listening to him and I am always first at family get togethers to ask him to play. Watching Willie and his two talented sons harmonising, just magic.

Who doesn't love Willie. One of the few that you never hear bad of. His love for his sons and theirs for him in the celebrity atmosphere is so rare, so inspiring. You can see the respect and loyalty between them. It touches my ❤️, makes my eyes tear, goose bumps and all. It's going to be a sad day when he leaves us, the only celebrity that has felt like family to me and will cause my heart to ache. I hope it's still many years away. And I would never have thought your voice is inherited, but lo and behold it must be. It's like hearing Willie at three ages singing at the same time. I've never heard anything like it. @@EddyArnold-xl7rn To be able to 'hand over the reins' eventually to the likes of your sons, is amazing!!, especially when Lukas sounds so much like you!!! Wow... And I love that you are still playing with 'Trigger', warts n' all xoxox

When I was a little boy back in the early 70's I nearly died from pneumonia...and I spent quite a bit of time fevered. The album "Red headed stranger" was the only thing that made me feel better...true story thanks Willie😊

Willie, this has always been one of my favorites and will never forget this song. Your son did a great job, but I think you stepped it up on him! No one can sing it like you.

I remember when he first sang this song. Now his son is. Amazing. Glad I'm here to get to listen.! We have many singers and music over the ages. Some stand out among the very top, they remain in our hearts and memories. Willie is right up there on top!

In every recording I have seen, Willie always treats this song with the utmost respect. No smiling, no showboating, almost as if it is a reverential hymn. Just as it should be.

"We'll stroll hand and hand again..." That got me. I have heard that line 100s of times but hearing Willie, Lukas and Micah sing it together was powerful because I know, to each other, they meant it.

I don't agree with anyone who says willy is passing on the legasy to his sons.l say he is sharing it with his sons' because if at that age willy is still performing as he does' it's clear he ain't going nowhere

Willie's guitar has the same plaintive haunted sound that his voice has. May his music go on forever. His boy has the same accent and sound, - probably not as rough and 'lived in' though. Keep going

I know this is old now, but I'm confused my friend... Who suggested Willie messed it up!!!???... It was expected that Willie would 'Come-In' after his son started, and it only emphasized how talented they all are, & how much his son sounded so much like Willie!!! A fantastic performance.....
