My Mom unexpectedly passed in 2023. It was well before her time. My Dad wasn't a real romantic man and I think he regrets that, but Mom knew he loved her and she never doubted that. At my Mom's funeral, before they closed her casket for the final time, my Dad asked me and my brother to stay behind with him for a minute. Dad had the funeral home play this song overhead. My Daddy sung this entire song to my Momma. The pain and tears in his eyes were palpable and something I will never forget. Thanks Willie for this song 🎶 . Your song was my Dad's last gift to my Mom and it meant so much to him to be able to express every regret and painful emotion he felt wrapped up in one song. That entire day was a blur for me; however, standing over my mom's casket, seeing her for the last time, me holding my dad's hand while listening to him sing this final song to the love of his life, of 49 years, is one moment that'll be etched in my heart and soul until my last breath..... That horrible and gut wrenching day, my Dad showed me the true meaning of unconditional love in life and in death ❤ I miss you Momma and I hope you are flying high with the angels 🌌. Rest easy for your work on earth is done 💜

My wife and I went to Hawaii years ago and happened to notice a flyer tacked to the wall at the Concierge's desk about Willie Nelson. When I asked, he told me it to was support local talent, and was a last minute notice. It cost about 10 dollars, and featured several groups, some with and some wirthout much talent. BUT, then Willie came on with his crew and blew the the place apart. Folding chairs on the grass, maybe fifty feet from the man himself, for 10 bucks in Hawaii!!!!!!! Beat that!!!

As a father I've been through something similar in my son's earlier years. It's heartbreaking that there is an active participating father who's willing and able to be a part of a child's life and yet there are restrictions. I would never put those types of things on my child. The court system weaponizes children and that really sucks. I hope you don't give up or lose sight of the important things. Will pray for you.

@a51bobcats6 жыл бұрын
Lorelei, I always thought I had lost my mind because I have precognitions, or some such foresight things. I see things before they happen. The most odd of these images I have seen, and that always come to be, was not dissimilar to a reincarnation type of thing. I want you to understand. What has occurred will occur again and again to infinity. The so called "big bang" theory is just that, a theory. A misunderstood way of explaining our existence. It is pure bunk. It is hard to understand the time that is involved in these cycles because our minds cannot conceive such spans of time. You will repeat the sad situation of eight years ago. I am sorry to tell you that, but you are going to do what you have done again and again. It just takes time. You cannot change any of it. Look at the face of a clock. Round and round. Do not believe me if it seems crazy to you but you are going to see him exactly as you did before. In the same place and yes, the same time. It is okay. It is the reality of this thing we call existence. Big Wigs think they can monkey with numbers and explain how and why things occur or come to exist. They are wrong. If it is, it was, and will be. Yes, you will always be on his mind. It is as though he went to the restroom during intermission. I want to comfort you. I have lost many loved ones. I do not want to repeat that pain but there is no alternative. So I will do it again gladly and sadly as I have over and over. The comforting part is that we cannot remember these "Intermissions". I have no idea whatsoever why this is. Can I add a 13 or a zero to that clock face. Probably not. Willy wrote a beautiful song I wonder if he would believe that he has written it many times before as he will many times again and again. The future is ours to be.

1:57 and 2:11. Those vibratos are perfect. Willie has a true mastery level of control over his voice, and here he brings it full force, not as an element of aggression, but rather as that of a broken man willing to bare his soul, which is far more powerful.

When my daughter kaylea was born in February of 1998 the Holy Spirit led me to sobriety in faith in Christ in Jesus saved me. Throughout the struggles I always thought about my daughter and what she was doing and how I can get back to her. This is my song to my daughter Kaylea. He was definitely the chosen 1 for this song. As a kid growing up, I always loved all of his songs. But, nobody will ever match or better Willie's version of this one. I've always believed that the best person to sing this on a tribute album would be his son. Lukas Nelson. He's the one who has the closest voice to his Dad's. I'd love to hear Lukas record his version of this song.
@Penn_chill2 жыл бұрын
That's what I've always thought loved so much about Willie's music. His band/recording artists, no matter what song or era are always superb, but they never take away from Willie's unique voice and interpretation, yet he never seems to try to be the "star". Forget autotunes and screaming amplifiers and synthesizers, they don't need it, and we get to enjoy the results.
