After the recent loss of Jerry Jeff Walker, RIP, I went back to all my favorite music from the early 70’s.. Walker, Willis and Murphy being some of my favorites 🎶

It was great then in Austin. I took my date (later my wife) to see Van Morrison at the Armadillo World Headquarters. I drove a 1962 Volkswagen, drank Lone Star beer and ate plenty of nachos and cheese with jalapenos. Best of times. Willis Alan Ramsey superb!!!

I was turned on to this album when I lived in Durango Colorado in 1972. Best album ever. Every song is great. And then he disappeared. So glad I found him here.

He lives in Loveland, Colorado and still touring. Working on another album for over 30 years, check out positively with Eric Clapton, thats a WAR song.

Another brilliant song on this masterpiece recording. Hard to believe he was 22-23 when writing and recording this LP. Just saw him last night in DC and the man still has it!

Leon Russell was his friend & invited Willis out to his LA studio (LR was part of the Wrecking Crew) and helped WAR put together the backing band. Lotsa famous cats! I wore the grooves off this LP when it came out. I can play most all the songs🦕

When this track was released in 1972, many radio station DJs stopped it prematurely at around 5:00 , not realizing that it would very slowly fade back up after that.
@billkeener6 жыл бұрын
We didn't stop it there from 'not knowing' there was more to hear but because there's 15 to 20 seconds of 'dead air' involved and dead air has always been a tune out factor. (change channels)

I believe the proper response should have been "Did you hear the album?". Some people are singer-song writers, some are song writers, and some are singers. He was definitely a song writer.

I saw him in a little dive bar in Norman around 77-78 and someone in the crowd asked about another album and he said it's coming out in a couple of weeks! I wonder how many times he used that line?😆
