Jean Marsh is great in this. She really 'sells' the magic. I also enjoy her performance in 'Return to OZ (1985). Another '80's' Fantasy movie worthy of popcorn.

One thing that blew me away was that Warwick Davis was only 17 when he played Willow. For my whole childhood, he was the homesteading, husband and father of 2, aspiring magician and guardian of the Princess... and he played it so well that I couldn't believe when I found out he was just 17.

Biggest shocker is that Warwick Davis was only sixteen when he played this role (he's now 52 and soon returning to play Willow on a Disney+ series)

I wouldn't recommend it since the Disney+ series is.... for the life of it ruined, because audiances are review bombing it for it's Wokeness

Willow was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Since there were no live action adaptations of The Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings back then, this movie was the closest thing to that.

@@totallybored5526 You sound like the complete opposite of me! If given the time, I would watch Willow for two hours and then watch Lord of the Rings for 12 hours and something more from the fantasy genre for several more hours. There would be no "waste" involved in any of that time, because I would be doing what I truly enjoy.

I believe that for the movie, the word "peck" is a slur for someone small and diminutive. It might come from the actual word "speck" which is something small like 'a speck of dust". This is one of my favorite 80s movies. Thank you for reacting to it and I'm so glad that you liked it. Since you enjoyed this movie, you should watch the original "Clash of the Titans" as well as the movie "Time Bandits". I know that you both will love them.

Willow was directed by Ron Howard who has a long career in Entertainment Industry from 1st as a child actor on TV series Andy Griffith Show as Opie to teen as Richie Cunningham from Happy Days to directing and producing of movies such as this one, Cocoon, Backdraft plus others. Both of you can say that he spent nearly his lifetime in the business.

Howard also starred in George Lucas' first film "American Graffiti" with a young Harrison Ford. Which 20th Century agreed to make upfront because George really -really wanted to make some crazy sci-fi /western/samurai film homage (no one ever heard of again) And then Ron Howard took over directing the "Solo" movie, circle of life 😉

Good choice Patreon voters. This is a classic movie that has been largely overlooked by the other reactors. And Ron Howard movies are almost always quite good, too, especially when scored by James Horner (Coccoon, Willow, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind) or Thomas Newman (Cinderella Man). Hint. Hint.

@itt23r
@itt23r 2 жыл бұрын
@@jean-paulaudette9246 The only thing I can think of that explains it is ignorance. These movies are as good if not better than the standad fare seen on reactor channels, but my guess is the majority of the people voting are very young and never heard of them for some reason. It's a blind leading the blind situation. And some really great movies like these and many others (Amistad, JFK, etc., etc.) are being grossly overlooked while some really mediocre movies from the past ten years aren't.

You are correct. Sorsha and Madmartigan are the good king and queen who take care of Elora. Sorsha’s father was actually the king of Tir Aslean, so Sorsha is the rightful heir. There are actually a couple of books. Willow is based on the first one.

I love this movie... First saw it when I was 7 (in 1992) but my Dad wasn´t home and my mom didn´t know who to operate the recorder back in the day :D So I begged my mom to ask the guys in the video store to get the tape so my dad could copy it (illegally, of course)... Took almost a year :/ But then it was mine and I watched it so often that the tape broke after 2 years :D I´m 38 now and owned this film on VHS, DVD, BluRay and now on prime - and still watch it at least twice a year :) Glad you´ve enjoyed it as much as we fans do :)

1. Fun movie! 2. That two headed critter is all kinds of cool!😎 3. When the evil queen goes down I think, "Couldn't happen to a nicer guy" 4. Thanks for doing this. I've been trying to get others to do this one. My chance to do that is; (Trivia time) because Warwick Davis' first gig was the lead Ewok when he was only 13 years old. 5. Val Kilmer will be 62 in December. Another movie with him in it not mentioned so far is: "The Doors" where he plays Jim Morrison and does all the singing in the movie. His(and my) love interest is Meg Ryan.😍 6. IRL Kilmer and Joanne Whalley fell in love making this movie and were briefly married. 7. GOOF: Kaya is seen in the ending celebration then shows up with the children and acts like it's the first time she sees him.
