LOVE my Willow. I had so much guilt exclusively pumping for my newborn because I struggled to give her the attention she needed while I was pumping. As soon as I switched to the Willow that guilt melted away. Even something as simple as changing a diaper in the middle of a pump session was so difficult before the Willow. Now that she's mobile I'm even more greatful for the freedom this pump gives me.

Just a suggestion from someone who watches a lot of pump reviews and has exclusively pumped with my first child and plans to again. One of the most important things about a pump to me is how difficult it is to assemble and how many parts there are to clean. I found myself waiting for the part of your review where you showed how to assemble the parts and how many parts you need to clean between pumps, and I was pretty bummed that these aspects weren't included in the review. Thanks.
@MommaAlia4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that! That’s never been a review point since I started my breast pump reviews over 5 years ago. Since all pumps require some level of assembly, I personally just didn’t see the need to cover it. I also cover assembly in my “how to use” videos for each pump. I understand your point though. The parts on the Willow are minimal and very easy to use after the first couple initial uses. The reusable container is not able to be entirely cleaned with a bottle brush, so I recommend a sponge. They do send their own two different size pipe cleaners with the pump to clean various small & fragile parts. Those worked well!
@alysonemery52874 жыл бұрын
@@MommaAlia Just my thoughts! You can certainly take them with a grain of salt! I know all pumps require assembly, but how much of a chore it is each time I pump definitely plays a role in which pump I prefer. And cleaning the parts is by far the most negative aspect of pumping for me, so knowing how much time that'll take is also a huge part of my thought process when purchasing a pump! Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the review! I had no idea the sensation was different. Im still not sure I understand... is there no 2 phase expression? Just a consistent pull, without cycles? Does it take a while to stimulate milk flow, or is it hard to get multiple let downs?
@MommaAlia4 жыл бұрын
There is two phase expression, it’s just continuous suction! There’s still cycle rates and vacuum levels, it’s just not snap releasing your nipple between each one. I get let downs pretty quickly with it and anytime I’d like to get another one, I just go back to stimulation mode!

@MommaAlia4 жыл бұрын
Hm that's a good question! I'm not sure and I want to lean with the answer that it would depend on your situation. Are you able to get a free pump through your insurance? If you're not able to then I would think about how much you'll be using the pump. If it's only occasionally, maybe go with something else. If you'll regularly use the Willow then I think it'll be worth it! Just make sure you pay attention to flange size and suction level!

Hi, would you recommend this if you're an over producer? I've always used Medela and the 8 oz bottles for pumping. I would hate to buy the Willow and keep having to empty the cups into bottles, which sounds like an extra step. But the sound of being free is so appealing.
@MommaAlia2 жыл бұрын
Hey!! That’s a tough one. I had a similar supply with my middle daughter and I can’t say I would want to use the Willow regularly with that level of supply. I’m reluctant to suggest any other mobile type ones because they all hold about the same capacity. It’s a bummer because even though an oversupply isn’t common, we still exist and I wish things could consider those pumping people! I’d say the best bet is a wireless pump with a typical parts set up. Not the same but would allow you more movement!
@i.mouayangs2 жыл бұрын
@@MommaAlia so true. I'm due with baby #3 in July and I've always been an oversupplyer so I'm trying to prepare. I loved the Sonata but they don't seem to stock those anymore. My ins is probably gonna cover the new Medela PISA, but I need another pump for upstairs. I'm debating on the Medela Freestyle Flex for mobility but really considering the Lansinoh SignaturePro since you really recommend it thru your videos. They now have 8 oz bottles so I'm really considering it, plus the price is a lot cheaper. Would you still recommend the Lansinoh?

Would this be a pump a first time mother and first time breastpumper could use? I can get the willow at a discounted rate through insurance, but would have only have the choice of either the discounted rate or a different free standard pump. I’m very intrigued by the willow pump, especially after this review but I’m concerned if I went with the willow if it would be too difficult for a first time breast pump user. Any suggestions? TIA
@MommaAlia3 жыл бұрын
No, I don’t think you need to be a seasoned breastfeeder to use this pump! There is a learning curve but nothing you don’t get the hang of with using it a few times. If you’ll be working or have a decent amount of time where you’d like to be free to move around while pumping, I would go for it!

Would you say it's more similar to medela or Spectra suck? I know you said it latches on so the suck is constant but is it more similar to either one of those? Or is it completely different? I just wonder because the medelas(Pisa and sonata) suck was really ineffective for me and it would take forever for me to empty whereas with the Spectra I'm able to empty faster and more completely
@MommaAlia4 жыл бұрын
Nope, I wouldn’t say it’s comparable to either of them. If I had to pick one I’d say it’s kind of like the Medela Symphony (actual hospital grade pump) but still different from it as well! It’s gentle but can have lots of suction!

Do u think it’s worth the premium from let’s say the lasinoh 2.0 smartpump?
@MommaAlia4 жыл бұрын
That’s a tough one because I think it really depends on your situation. If you think you’ll need to depend on the Willow’s features of being entirely tube and wire free more than a handful of times, I would say yes! But if you are able to sit down for every pump session, I think the Lansinoh 2.0 would be a more budget friendly choice for that!
@goralpatel74293 жыл бұрын
was on the fence about willow or elive because I heard there's less output from lets say a medela pump in style pump/spectra. Do you find that to be the case? looks like generation 3 claims you get more milk which in the video you agreed with. So now i'm back on considering the willow ESP with the reusable part otherwise, it was still a no with only bags being offered. still wanted to confirm suction and maximizing my output of milk since that's the goal.
@MommaAlia3 жыл бұрын
Every momma is gonna be different. I personally got more milk with the Willow than I did with the new Pump In Style. It's been years since I've tried the Spectra so I can't really compare there. I would make the majority of your decision based off what you think your needs will be? Is this your first time pumping? If so, you'll want a pump with a lot of options to hopefully find what works for you and may want to skip the Willow or Elvie. Will you traveling a lot or have the need to be wire free as much as possible? If so, then one of these are definitely something worth seriously considering!
@goralpatel74293 жыл бұрын
