how hard is it for her to be in a space to be a 'real artist' when she has multi-millionaire parents with connections? while everyone else has to slave away at a job or are forced to attend college in hopes of upward mobility, she gets to 'explore' herself musically without a care in the world. she speaks of 'existential concepts' without having never known what is was like to go hungry, worry about finances, or wonder how she's going to come up with $$ for studio time.

Of course, I knew who she was, but I never bothered to listen to her music because I only listen to old stuff…from the 60s and 70s, but this young woman is so mega talented that I can’t get enough of her music!!! This new album, “empathogen”, is just absolutely perfect!!! If this album doesn’t win a Grammy for Album of The Year, then something is definitely wrong here!!! I agree with you 💯 % . Willow needs to grow and mature in vocal cords. You can't give her higher potential b/c of her parents. If she was an ordinary singer like so many others on VOICE and other non celebrity talent shows. So many singers sing nicely, but Willow voice needs stronger process in vocal cord range. She sounds like she is singing from the back of her throat. Her voice isn't fully developed. Yes, I watched VOICE, WHO HAS TALENT etc... You actually have people who can sang, sing, plus song 🎵 🎶 another artist with perfectly arranging vocal cords hitting those notes that Willow can't do. You actually have singers who can sing w/o music background. Sorry Willow, but Nah.

There is so much imagery in the lyrics. Groove makes me have it on repeat. I’m 49 and normally an 80s rock, 90s grunge. Oh. And Whitney. Can’t stop thinking about the GOAT. Folk, Jazz, but this. Jeesh. She is textbook perfect. PERFECT!

Never in a million years did I think I'd unironically love a willow smith song. This sounds like peak radiohead or something. Every bit of it is just so good, it's groovy and complex but accessible, has good lyrics, catchy, like legit it's a good song.

“find the one who understands why we wait for pain to change us” This line hits so close to home, especially now. People crave the pain that brings communities together. People crave sympathy, not empathy. Yet, once we fall into a state of depression, our minds are warped. We asked the world to cry for our pains, yet the only ones left crying is ourselves. Willow, this song is pure artistry. It transcends the limit of modern pop, and it’s a joy to dissect your fruitful lyrics ❤

Out on my family ranch, smoking 🍀and doing yoga, singing and communing with the universe and forest spirits 🌳🧚♀️ I lost that home but it is my happy place in my heart and the melodies in the beginning, sound like what it feels like when the wind is blowing through the trees and they talk to each other! Is plant music an inspriation for you?? Willow has tremendous talent and depth of humanity. She could have taken the easy way out, riding on her rich and famous parent's coattails, but instead she insists on being relevant in her own right and bringing something unique and needed to the table. That's hard for anyone to do, but especially when you have so many ass-kissers and yes-people and energy vampires circling all the time... to still be able to make a little space and find and express your own magic is quite the feat. I'm so grateful I get to witness her creative journey.

This definitely builds off of the explosive rock-sonic musicality she conjured up in her album . She really hit it out of the park with this single and has set me up with anticipation for her coming album (if there is one, as I've not seen an announcement myself, yet.) The jazz inspired riffs, the patient percussive rhythms, her heavenly, resonant vocals, and the pacing/timing of this track is a joy to behold. Had me sitting there, wondering if I were truly listening to her, or if I were day-dreaming, LOL.
