We have installed a few hundred of these into golf carts. They have gotten a little better over time. The smaller packs are barely good enough really depending on driving conditions ie. Anything with real hills and they can’t handle the inrush current. The one you are installing is their high output. The high outputs so far have been pretty reliable.
@derrickzeng
@derrickzeng Жыл бұрын
I think you are right. This is because its continuous discharge current is not big enough. Just imagine, with 4 big guys and other things loaded on the golf cart with this battery, driving uphill, it will probably stop working and the meter display remaining power could be up to 25%. And take a look at the connection panels between cells and other joints, it is alluminum alloy, instead of copper, it means that it is not for high working current at all. I have to say, it is beautiful but it is not the best.

I did this last winter, built a 1kwh battery pack that can run both fridges in a power outage, its a pretty cheap project, you should do it. 2 100w panels, a battery of your choice, and a solar controller and inverter. If you do it on a hand truck there are quite a few videos on making a quick and easy one using integrated Controller/inverters and a rackmount battery (5kwh). Just be sure to use a 20amp power strip when you wire up AC.

I bought some “Sapphion U-Charge” LiFePo4 batteries for my Polaris Ranger EV about 8-years ago. It was 4x12v cells instead of the 8x6v stock set up, and just required reprogramming of the original onboard charger and purchasing a very expensive “CAN-bus” solenoid. They look exactly like deep cycle batteries. I’m still getting 35-40 miles per charge compared to the 45-50 miles when they were new. The lead-acid batteries were weak by the time I got it but they were supposed to be good for 45-miles on flat ground when fresh (it was down to 4 or 5). Best purchase I’ve ever made for that thing.

Great job on the video Will! Thanks for making it. You mentioned Surron, any chance you might pick one up to showcase on the channel? I am really into the idea because with dirt bikes, the barrier of entry that is maintenance and upgrades prevents a lot of us from pulling the trigger. With electric, there isn't really any maintenance and they're so easy to customize that it really makes it a lot easier to et into the hobby. Someday I hope to buy one and paint it to match my 4runner and get a hitch-mounted bike carrier so that when we go off-roading, my wife can drive (she's a better off-road driver than I am since she pretty much does it for a living) and I can zip around her on the bike to get some rad video footage. If you're thinking about it, there is another Vegas KZbinr called Vegas RoManiac you might want to reach out to. He rigged his to carry double the batteries than a standard model so it gets a tone of range. The aftermarket is insane on them too, with tons of higher power or higher capacity batteries along with all the standard upgrades you can do to a dirt bike. Thanks again for making this video!

First I want to say thank you for all the information you share I've learned a lot from your videos and I've come to trust your opinion on a lot of issues surrounding solor power, so I would like to ask your opinion on my plan so you know because of injury's I cant work anymore and I waited to long to try and get social security disability insurance, who knew you'd get screwed by holding off as long as possible before applying for it and so I was denied and ended up only getting SSI which pays less then a thousand a month lol so it's challenging to say the least to afford much for anything I have to move out to my property in Kentucky or lose it and its undeveloped I'm going off-grid and I can't afford to do the normal kind of solor system that most people do , my plan is to do small systems for individual areas of my home and other need such as one system for my bedroom and living room and a separate for my kitchen and bathroom and another for my water pump etc.. so I can build each according to separate needs and if something fails like say my well pump I can barrow say my bedroom power till I can fix the well pump system and I don't lose all my power because I can't afford a new part right away . In a way it's like I'll have a back up if needed it will be priority that decides where the power is supplied. So please any advice would be appreciated if you find some time. Thank you I forgot to add that I'm planning almost every thing I can to be 12v since it's only small systems although I may do 24v for kitchen so I can run a refrigerator or freezer. And we don't watch TV we only use our cell phones / laptop for that

Thank you. I have EZ GO 48V golfcart and was not happy with what is on the market for golfcart use. and the price . I have 6 GC8 interstate battery's now and they work great . I do have a big solar panel on top with a boost charger for 48V . I have on board charger but I added a Anderson SB 50 red connector for charging or under 50 amp loads. I would switch to SB 50 Anderson with weather proof cap . I got red type 2 it wont plug into a gray SB 50 I have for 12V. I do not have breaking resistor. May be the lead battery system . my FWD and REV is just a heavy duty switch on motor . I think breaking is done in my controller. it holds speed down hill .For now I stick with lead acid. until I find a LiFePO4 that holds up and cost is down. I get about 5 years on flooded battery's .I got 12V lighting . red led tail lights but auto style head light lamps. They make LED that goes right in same socket. I am is Boston NY ,out winters are rough. would need to insulate LFP battery. Next battery replacement I will check the LFP market. Cost and runtime and pulling a hill or load are factors for me. Thank you for video. Let us know run time on that LFP .

I had the same problem with Powerpoles several melted with only 6amps going through them, I gave up on them and I use EC5 (120amps) and EC8's (250 amps) they are much better IMO for making solid connections, you do need to solder them though and an EC8 takes a powerful iron to melt enough solder for the wire/connector

I went with Raw EVE LF280K and a 250A (which easily exceeds 300A for a bit of time if needed) smart bms. A bit of modding of the battery tray to create flat platform for the pack and a compression setup with water proofed ply and some threaded rods/locking nuts. It has much more range and capable of higher amp draws without going much if any beyond 1C, and it's been working great for months now. I've got so much range I only need to recharge once every 2 or so months, and I've connected a PSW 3kw inverter to power fridges and freezers during power outages. As far as bang for buck goes, there isn't a better option (if you have a bit of time and some tools to do the work, which only requires homeowner stuff).

Thanks for the review. Do you maybe know where to buy these type of remote switch separately? Really like them, but don’t know what is their name, how to find them. Thanks

been running one of these since first of the year. all i need is solar for it. Which video would have the buck converter, solar for the 48v is all i'm missing (already have it for 12v secondary lfp battery in all the new empty space left by the missing 8v anchors)

So if they use a contactor instead of fets in the bms, can you series connect two together for 96v?

Will, I have a question about any battery system using contactors instead of FETs... basically, do they use a magnetically-latched contactor, or does the battery have to continuously hold the contactor closed with current from the battery itself? Some implementations like this are NOT good for long periods of no use, where the battery must hold the contactor closed for the slightest current requirement. Mag-latch relays/contactors simply stay in the open or closed state magnetically until the controller commands it to open or close, and this method uses no quiescent (standby) current. Can you speak to that aspect, and in future when you see a contactor system, can you test it somehow for standby current?

i was in harbor freight a week ago he was looking at hf 100 watt kit little pricy but easy to use for low need. we spoke he lost house from ean and moving into decent size travel trailer. and wants solar rather than gen . we spoke a while i said check you out both video and website especially your older ones with rv trouble is where we live almost all co are installers who only want to sell systems not a few 300-400 panels

My 2020 Icon with the stock Toyota 350A controller (tuned, because they are open) and 64x TopBand pack (16s 4p) regularly draws 165A @ 35-37mph. Not sure that 100A BMS would be enough.

I have 5, 30 amp 48 volt Allied Lithium iron phosphate batteries connected in parallel in my golf cart. They are about 3 yrs old. I notice lately they are self discharging a LOT . Like 30 percent in a week when not in use. Do you have any idea what is going on ???? They charge up fine but capacity is sucking big time . Thanks .
