Here is an idea. Take all the ends that you cut off from doing damascus and use them to make a canister Damascus bar and see how it looks.

One caveat that I would make about using a mini-split heat pump in your shop: Heat pumps are best at keeping a constant temperature, NOT making a huge amount of heat at once. Especially for a shop like yours with a lot of thermal mass in cast iron, don't expect fast changes in temperature.

that flat folding knife is BY FAR the best folding knife i have ever seen. i would love to have a work folding knife that doesnt dig into my pocket when driving. you could make knife design into a large scale business by mass producing your many original designs

I know the feeling of heat in the shop in the summer all too well. I work in a stainless steel melt shop. Aside from the ambient heat in the shop, we’re also wearing at least 2 layers of flame resistant clothing. There’s not enough Mr. Cools in the world to cool it down

Just a quick thing I think might help with monetization, you could easily separate some videos like this into 3 or more parts with some montages and stuff to add some extra time. Lol I know you've seen how it's done with the zweihander and Calvary swords. I absolutely love the single video showing everything; it's easily my favorite way that people post since you won't have to watch a bunch of extra stuff just for making the video longer. I was told that the Damascus requirement was to prove you could make it. As the fact that you can buy Damascus billets means stock removal is still possible.

Genuine question here, when you abandon a project what do you do with the cracked blade, or the damascus billet with a bad weld? I would imagine, the failures would be cut into small pieces to be used again, perhaps in a canister. Or do they get sent to scrap to be remelted into new steel?

They are different smiths. And Alec does a lot of quicker knife series now. Some of us preferred when Alec did 14 part series about a single project because of the time and detail he put into it. I don’t feel his videos have the same detail and dedication now but I still watch, he’s an interesting tradesman as is will.

Your knives are cool and I love your videos ever since you did all the work for Alec. But just a thought here maybe you're still on your journey, you're very young there's no need to rush a musters title. If you have to call someone to ask their opinion on the joint that doesn't sound masterful. You should either know if its going to be ok or not and I think experience gives you the confidence to make that call. Now it's not a sign of being unskilled to ask someones opinion but I think maybe you're just in too much of a rush.
