Snell would have been great, but the Giant's needed a shortstop WAY more. The position has been cursed for the last 3 years. Fitzgerald had a good first year, but he is not suited for shortstop he's a natural second baseman / utility.

I think Adames may actually be comparable to Correa, in terms of what he'll give them on the field. If I were a Giants fan, I'd be heaving a sigh of relief. I'll be interested to see how they add on, in order to compete in their division, which as you suggest is quite competitive.

Adames is the best shortstop on the market, and the most reliable defensive shortstop that has been on the market for 3 years. Because of Oracle park the Giants need a defensive team. TLDR: Oracle Park requires a small ball team, and a small ball mindset, because it is so pitcher friendly. They need to lean into ground ball pitchers, or extreme fly ball pitchers who induce lots of pop fly balls. I'd prefer chad inning eater ground ball pitching starters like Logan Webb, and then extreme fly ball fast ball machines like Aroldis Chapman for the starting rotation and bull pen. Those are the types of players that make a winning team in San Fran. That is what they had when they won in 2010, 2012, and 2014. The only positions that can prioritize pop over defense for the entire team are first base and the DH, the rest need to be good defensively, otherwise the opposing teams will beat out the Giants and score lots.
