6 years ago you posted this and I'm just now finding it. I'm grateful it's still here to find! I can't imagine how much you charge for this work, but I know two things for certain: 1, I can't afford it, and 2, you're not charging enough. The work you're showing us is possibly the most specialized and perfected work of any trade. This is all very impressive! Thanks for taking the time to record and share all of this!

I like the calm way you explain everything. It’s all easy to follow. Many KZbinrs use too much theatrical emotion thinking they’ll get more clicks. It’s not so. Calm, measured explanations without annoying upspeak are the best.

Great content, you can't go wrong at all when you're preserving the real people who worked with their hands! And getting the whole home build experience makes it more intimate and understanding on how it was and how it could be if you wanted to do yourself! Brilliant doesn't get any better than that! Thank you!

@@metalshaperJeep You sure made the tare dw of the old CJ Ross steering box much easier. Looks like she had hope and going to try my best to save it 🙄 , if not putting back original, would go with PS, but she deserves going back the way it was in 66!

Just found your videos. I wish I had some of the heavy tools you have. I own an auto fab and restoration shop and am self taught so watching some of the stuff your dong is cool. I've been restoring WW2 jeeps for myself for a few years now and you sir have talent. Most of my business is drag cars and muscle cars and the jeeps are an escape for me. Thanks for taking the time to video your projects.

Ed, glad you found my channel and are enjoying the videos. After many years of folks asking how I do things I have decided to put some information out on youtube for the next generation to learn. Not too many people interested in metal shaping these days though. Keep watching as there are more videos being made all the time and good luck with your shop. Would be cool to see some of your projects sometime.

It sure is fun watching a true craftsman working sheet metal. Just happened to catch one of your videos while surfing KZbin. Looks like I've got some great catching up to do.........I've been watching a guy build a steel Chinese Junker in his back yard for a couple of years but I can relate better to what you're working on. I sure could have used these videos back in the late 80's while I was working on my rusted out Landcruiser........Thanks for the videos!!!

I learned a few things on this one. I liked what you did cutting the flange off, shrinking then stretching. Also keeping a square line on the panel. I'm working on a similar part, but a Dodge. I'm working with about half the tools. Nice work.

Yep, I know what you mean. I keep up a webpage about a car restoration and I've got some CJ3A resto stuff I want to put up too, but it's a little pricey to pay for keeping up a website. But once in a while I get a nice email or even a phone call and I feel pretty good helping someone out. At the very least I feel like I'm contributing to the online world to make up for all the info I "consume". Good luck with your youtube channel, and the old flatfender stuff too.

Brian, it is: www.squidsfabshop.com I am NOT a shop, or a pro fabricator. just a hobbyist. I came across your youtube videos from a posting on the CJ2A boards. It's funny because I just made a bunch of panels for my '3A with wood forms....I took care of the pucker problems with slits and welding, and I did not fold over the tops of the tub....I will weld on my original tops. Keep on Jeepin'!

Here is part one of the cab corners being made. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJCpooZmmd-rg7M There are 3 parts so check them out. As far as weldable primer I use LPS Cold Galvanize Spray. You can find it locally, on amazon, ebay, or any good retailer. Use it only between joints, not on any surface that you are going to paint later. It works great. Brian

Ok thanks, 30g's my wife would kill me. My first project was 68rs camaro when I was 14 an it went on from their with many shop tools and equipment but I've never seen one of those flanger before
@metalshaperJeep7 жыл бұрын
The flanger is a wonderful tool and does things no other machine can do. They were made right here in Connecticut for many years along with riveters and kick shrinkers. Prices have gone thru the roof lately, but I guess everything is like that now.

Hi mate, just found your channel and I think I'm going to enjoy watching your other ones. In this video, when you went back and forth from the shrinker to the bench to bend the "cut" side to match, how did you bend it? Did you just force it over a round piece of pipe or similar? I didn't see this step in the video. Thanks, and keep up the informative videos.

I just want to know one thing "metalshaper" ......is there ANYTHING you CAN'T do in the engineering, fabricating, creative world ??? Do you do all this for a "living" ....... or did you win a huge lottery ticket when you were young and all this "stuff" you do became a life-long serious hobby ??? SAAAAAALUTE !!! I "thought" that I had some talent ----- until that is, I came across your vids here on U-tube !!
@metalshaperJeep7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Yes, I do this for a living among other things. I bought an old farm so I am raising animals, planting crops, and restoring an 1800's house and many barns. Didn't ever win a lottery, and live from day to day. Everything you see in my shop has been a struggle to acquire and often I would put common life things such as a place to sleep or food to eat, to the side, to build my tool collection. It has been a tough road, but I work for myself and have chosen a life of quality and peace over money. Keep watching many more videos on the way. Brian
