Great video. I was about to drop over $800 on a ready made kit. This made me re-think that strategy.

Nice work, those parts make it very easy. cant wait to see it as a rolling chassis. great video!

Thanks Matt, yeah I'm excited for it to start looking more like a Jeep and less like just a pile of parts 😄

Much cheaper than the kits that are priced at $600 for front and another $600 for rear. You’re looking at $800+ for dual master cylinder and both front & rear. Huge savings Thanks RT
@thelarsongarage2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought this setup was pretty reasonable when I heard about it. I didn't include the costs of the dual master cylinder and bracket to use these front discs, I'll have that in a future video when I wrap up the whole brake system!

Loved your disc brake conversion on a CJ-3B it was great. I'm investigating that right now. Two things, thank your for your information on mixing axle grease and axle oil. Never thought of that, but I attest to your assessment of the drying out U-joints. Speaking of U-joints, have you all investigated RCV axles to use in stock FJ-3B rebuilds?

that master cylinder and bracket looks like it came from Herm the over drive guy in Washington, the master cylinder is out of a 71 Matador

Having trouble with the copper crush nut leaking at the caliper and the caliper not moving/bleeding. Will try aluminum crush washers.

Nice video. I am going to do all 4 wheels my CJ2A. Can I do the rears with the same parts as you show for the front and do I need anything else? I believe I will have to change the brake line to connect to a banjo style line? Thank you!!

What axle is this? Dana…. Thank you. Great channel hard to believe views are not higher and makes me think you should add some more info in your titles to make sure you catch all the Jeep/Willy’s viewers. Best of luck.

Hey man, I did the same conversion but I have to press really hard the brakes to make it work. Any solution for this problem?

Can I use this kit for 64 4 cilinder CJ 5 jeep and for 76 Cj5 jeep? Thank you for your video
@thelarsongarage2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hery, the kit should work for your CJ 5 if it has the 6 hole bolt pattern on the knuckle. I think the Brennan's garage website will better describe what vehicles it will fit

Why not use geo tracker brake hoses
@thelarsongarage2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mr Jeep, good question, I was following the parts list that was suggested by Brennans Garage, but after looking closer I don't think the S10 brake hoses will work for me, I'll end up running the lines to the frame instead of the axle.

You make it look so simple. Very good. You said there would be a parts list. Can you provide that? Any thought on doing the rear, too? Or is there no real difference?

I ended up getting longer lug studs. Did you use originals or go a little longer? Originals measure about 9/16 past rotor while rear studs on drum brakes measured 3/4 long.
@kjkovel2 жыл бұрын
Did you create seal between bracket and knuckle or just bolt on? I did put lock tight on the new 1inch bolts.
@thelarsongarage2 жыл бұрын
I used the original studs, I didn't notice if they seemed short when I put the wheels on, I'll have to take another look. I put loctite on the bolts to hold it in but did not make a seal, the spindle seals the knuckle side and the hub has a seal to keep the wheel bearing grease in so I didn't see the need to seal the bracket.
