That’s awesome, Carolyn! Great paddling down in Texas and phenomenal paddlers. I’m so close to just pulling the trigger on the new Enduro 450…also need to find a yak for the child. Suggestions for a not at all athletic kid, 125 lbs, total newb? Strong swimmer so not at all afraid of the water.

Pete has a ton of great videos and a wealth of kyaking and camping knowledge. Check out the Uncharted videos and one of the guys is from TEXAS and his videos can turn you on to some of your home rivers. Be sure to subscribe to both River Kings and the Texas guy for great videos with tons of info!!!

That eddy Jerry caught around the 15 min mark was a total swan move...and he knew it. Sucks I hurt myself the day before getting the chance to run the Ocoee with him. Sure enjoyed his company around the campfire. Just showed up like a phantom out of the dark, ha-ha.

Cool! How do you like the machno? I'm on my 2nd one now!
@RiverKingsKayak2 жыл бұрын
It is a solid boat Dane! I did find that back edge to be a little grabby. It was nothing that would ruin your day or cause mass chaos...I would just notice it from time to time - mostly in water where I did not have speed and was sitting in a seam, or peeling out/ catching eddies. Anytime I was driving downriver, it handled like a dream. It was fairly fast for a traditional creeker, predictable and stable. As for that stern grab, I got used to it. Really reminded me of a Flying Squirrel 95 stern until I moved the seat all the way forward. So, I will probably play with the seat position some...see if I can eliminate that grabbiness a touch. Maybe Im just all used to the kick rocker boats I have been paddling lately? What are your sentiments?
@danenewman8002 жыл бұрын
@@RiverKingsKayak I'm in a large and different weight, mileage may vary. I agree with what you said that the boat needs to be driven. If not driven, it just wanders and spins out somewhere. I did notice you flaring off or spinning on every rock you found in the video. I do the same in my machno which is probably why i'm on my 2nd one now. I feel the machno is very predictable when doing these types of moves! I haven't noticed the stern is grabby but I try to keep my weight always forward in the boat when landing. Hope to paddle with you down Wilson's someday! Once again, great video!

How's the Machno feeling?
@RiverKingsKayak2 жыл бұрын
It is a solid boat. I have been noticing some stern grab. It kinda reminds me of the Flying Squirrel 95 before I put the seat all the way forward. So I have been playing with the seat position a bit. Perhaps Im just used to all the kick rocker sterns I have been in. It never causes a major catastrophe, but I just get grabbed from time to time. I do find it very comfy. I put the @Wade Harrison back band upgrade and like that back band set up over all the other boats I paddle now. It does everything pretty well. I get washed around a bit in bigger water. I definitely likes to be driven. Over all I like it...not sure I love it yet.
@4JudgeSmails2 жыл бұрын
@@RiverKingsKayak Well, I just watched the latest video, and you rather subtly cleared this up, lol. If you are still rocking the Alpha and Nirvana, I can see where the Machno ends up being the odd man out.

in all serious, that is alittle too much boat for Little Dave, slice boat, he should be in something alittle more beginner friendly and work into the slicey boats. Great Vid Pete. GREAT JOB SUPPORT BOATERS
@RiverKingsKayak2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Scott! I would actually say it wasn't enough boat for him. More volume, more rocker and less edge would have been his friend...But he is in that stage where there just aren't boats built for his size. The Jive wasn't a horrible choice for him as a boat in general, but when moving into creeking, your boat can def make things harder or easier on you...We all talked about it and they have been looking for just that right boat...perhaps a remix 59...
@FeWolf2 жыл бұрын
@@RiverKingsKayak I agree, Remix, I am concerned with his safety.
@RiverKingsKayak2 жыл бұрын
@@FeWolf no need to be concerned! He will be just fine. He has a roll but the river finally got to him. I'm certain he could go again in the same boat this week and clean it. How is your roll coming?
