I wanted to express appreciation for your video. Whether you know it or (k)not, you're with me when I string my racket. Thanks

They both hold tension very well if tied properly. The Parnell is a little larger knot and the Pro knot is easier to tie especially places.

This is also the primary knot that I use. Irvin

"Whenever I'm tying a knot, I always start on the inside of the frame." = Closest to the center of the frame? If tying off on a main, then start on the side closer to the center mains?

Hello mr10. Your channel is a great resource. I've been stringing now for a couple years following a ukrsa qualification. Keep coming back to your channel for tips, tricks and refreshers. I have to be honest, I was taught the Parnell knot. I have exclusively used it, never found any reason to try other knots and no complaints. You have shown us many different types of knot like the Wilson pro in this video. Can you do a video on not just the different knots, but the benefits pros cons of each? When would I choose a Wilson pro over the Parnell?
@Mr10sStringer4 жыл бұрын
Sure I can do that maybe the next time I make a video which won't be long. I use the Parnell now exclusively they tying off because it is so simple and effective. When I string 2 piece I use a VS starting knot because it is easier to tighten with a slack string and uses very little of a tail. Some will claim the Pro knot is easier to tie off when there is less room. If you keep your anchor string on top there is never a time when they is less room. The only difference between the pro knot and the Parnell is the tag end goes under the anchor string 2 times using a parnell. They are both a simple overhand knot.

@@Mr10sStringer thx mr10, thought I'd also mention... Mr brother is an MRT. Thinks your videos are great too. Last week he sent a link to you yusuki method video. Loved it, vowed it would be my goto starting method..But I had a problem. For specific reasons I am limited to a crank penta premium 8600. The base clamps are too large and I can't use the clamp on the second mains pull. Any suggestions?
@Mr10sStringer4 жыл бұрын
Justin Espie not sure I understand your issue. My guess is the bases touch when both are at one end of the racket with only 1 string between them. I would place the first clamp farther from the frame so the second clamp will fit. You must tension the string with the first clamp and starting clamp again anyway so that string will be fully tensioned.

@@Mr10sStringer that's correct and that's what I do. Just wondered if there was another way. Thx

I am sure it is not necessary but I do it so the tail will lay a little better. No big deal no matter how you start.

i watched the stringers at the CitiOpen in DC last summer (Game Set Match Tennis), and they all used the Wilson Pro Knot for all knots - they used a starting clamp to start the crosses, then came back and used the pro knot after taking off the starting clamp. easier, simpler and one knot to remember with good versatility, so i'm using it exclusively now - esp since i got a starting clamp.

@Mr10sStringer Okay, that's what I thought. I haven't been consistent with how I start my knots, but what I quoted you on struck me as one additional tip on being consistent. Thanks.

this looks exactly like the parnell knot? wheres the difference after the half hitch? Both are then going under and inside right?
@Mr10sStringer Жыл бұрын
The Pro knot only goes under the anchor string 1 time where the Parnell string goes under the anchor string 2 times.

I switch over this knot few days ago. The Parnell for whatever reason failed me twice.. on very slippery synthetic string
@Mr10sStringer3 жыл бұрын
I would think the Pro knot would fail before the Parnell.

Hi. When I do this knot, one of them comes out like that but when I do the other 3, they come out very weird and bulky. Is there a way that I can send you pictures on how they come out? Thank you!

Giovanni Baca You could be tying a Parnell knot thinking you are doing a pro knot. Send me pictures at 10s-stringer at bellsouth net

This is my favorite knot to use in tight spots.
@Mr10sStringer7 жыл бұрын
steppinout67 I don't have tight places. If the anchor string is on top of the intersecting string (as shown in video) you can tie any knot above the intersecting string and you have all the room you need. I don't use this knot any more because it is too small but I used it for years.
@steppinout677 жыл бұрын
A lot of times that triangle is a lot smaller though and it's a tight spot. It happens a lot when I string the prince textreme tour 100t.
@steppinout677 жыл бұрын
I'll take a picture of it and send it to you next time I string it.
@steppinout677 жыл бұрын
Also I love this knot. Never had it slip down into the grommet. But hey stringer's preference. You do what you please. There's not many other knots to use. Double half-hitch is boring and I'm reluctant to use the parnell knot cause I think you have to be well up your own ass to name a knot after yourself. So I'm too proud to use his knot haha.

steppinout67 don't tie the knot in the triangle tie it on the string above it and slide the knot down
