I have to say, as someone who watches every single video on this channel, I really appreciate that you are testing the equipment on an actual simulated golf hole. Can be pretty bland to just see Matty banging balls on a virtual range. I would encourage you guys to do the testing on an actual hole every time. Even with Driver, Fairways, Wedges, etc. So much more enjoyable to watch. Great video!

Seeing reviews on everything out there, not just the big brands, is so refreshing to see. Coming out of a fitting knowing you've tried everything available you would have otherwise never known much about eliminates any hint of fomo/buyers remorse. Thanks gents!

I bought the D9s this year and LOVE them! I'm hitting the ball longer and straighter. My 5 iron is going 200-210 yards with a nice draw down the middle. Mid irons hold the green nicely. I'd say I've dropped 5 strokes off my game. Such a confidence booster for someone in their late 50s.
@MrRatFinkster3 жыл бұрын
Yes finally some Wilson Clubs!! Those CBs are GORGEOUS. It's funny - the reaction I usually get when I mention Wilson Staff out and about is "isn't that a walmart club?" Clearly they are not - it would be great to see more of these on the course.
@timfrancisco76403 жыл бұрын
I have the CB's, and what sold me on them was the consistency. At one point I hit 10 shots and 8 of them landed at exactly the same yardage. I've always been good with my irons but that was crazy. Also the feel was really nice. But I have always thought they won't have the popularity I think they deserve.

I've hit these (was about to buy some and COVID took out all golf here). They are awesome combo of foregiveness and feel. The Staff Blades I reckon are the nicest looking irons on the market and far more forgiving that the looks would indicate. Great choice on the D7s.

Matt and Ian Wilson are the most underrated irons out there I had the blades for 18months till the new cb was launched in Australia in January and got them as soon as they were on the shelf both sets are the best irons I’ve ever hit and I don’t think I will ever play anything else
@timmacivor19633 жыл бұрын
The CB’s are a tremendous iron. Feel is right up there with Mizuno-esque levels of forged irons. The forgiveness is very very good for a small headed forged iron. If you’re in the market for a forged iron you simply have to try them, just exceptionally good.
@benegan26753 жыл бұрын
I bought the D7 forged late 2019. I love these irons. I got improved distance and spin. They really feel great. I tested these against a number of other irons and nothing came close. I went in to look at JPX range and came out with the D7 forged.

I love Wilson irons (used them since 1980s in various iteration until I bought the Takomo 101 Irons), but those D9 irons demonstrated EXACTLY the issue with Super Game Improvement and Game Improvement clubs.... INCONSISTENCY! Right Hand Matt hit that 7i from 170ish to 190ish. That's a 20 yard delta! For an approach iron, a 20yard delta is simply unacceptable, even for an amateur golfer. Like Ian said, that kind of variance would motivate him, as a fitter, to look to another iron (perhaps more the CB which showed itself to be more consistent). This is not something that is just a Wilson problem. I have tried a lot of different GI irons over the last years when looking for new irons and this was my biggest concern when demoing irons. That is, hands down, my biggest praise of my Takomo 101's. They are consistent... VERY consistent. You CAN'T have an iron that sometimes flies one yardage, and sometimes flies another. Better to pick the right Tee Box, hit it less far and more consistently and your scores will improve. Cheers! (Looking forward to see the Wilson Blade demo for sure!)

Thanks for reviewing Wilson guys, particularly their irons which are so good. Ian, you mentioned a lot of clubs Wilson sent you - some old like the Staff blades, and some newer like the CB’s and wedges. But there was no mention of the D7 Forged. Does that model still exist? I hope they don’t just have blades and CB’s at the top end and the D9 as super game improvement with nothing in between. After all, that “Players Distance” category (I’m including hollow bodied irons in that) is where most of the action is.

Every review of the CB’s I’ve seen has raved about them. Which is not so surprising I guess, as they’ve (cleverly IMO) kept them similar to the V6’s they replaced. And they almost had a cult following, to the point where Wilson kept the model running for 4 years!

I play the Wilson staff cb. Everything you said about them in the review is true, as good as all other player's irons with a little help out there. Even though I'm in the UK and you see Wilson clubs a bit more than in north America, people ask about them because they aren't one of the big names and they're very eye-catching. If anyone watching is in the market for new irons in that bracket, give them a go. You may just save yourself a few $ with no real drawback.

In the 70's Wilson was a popular brand among recreational golfers here in Canada. Seemed at least one guy in your foursome was using them. By the 80's their reputation was that of a bargain brand. People were embarrassed to be seen using them, and it seemed they never recovered. Obviously they have been a quality brand for some years now, but can't seem to catch fire in popularity to generate higher sales volumes.

I use the C300 forged love them. I don’t think you should focus on the price as it comes across as a negative towards the clubs when compared to the so called bigger (costlier) manufacturers and as you have seen I really don’t think there is a difference in quality or performance in comparison to the so called big boys. People should be trying them because they are as good. My reason for going for the C300 forged (a couple of years ago) was the dispersion front to back was better than anything else I tried
@cameronloveless17513 жыл бұрын
On the money. I too play the C300 Forged and they are seriously good irons. Looks, feel, distance and spin. To me they have that perfect loft of 33 degrees for a 7 iron that gives you a few extra yards over a traditional 34-35 degrees, but still flies high and stops on a dime.
