Man I like all your vids and understand you have to be profitable and you need to run a business your way but the only thing I disagree on is if a customer brings a car in you treat that car like your own and like it was a Lamborghini doesn't matter if it's a regular Honda civic that rarely comes in they all get 5 star treatment.
@trscsaeg5 жыл бұрын
It's not that he doesn't want to do 5 stars. It's that doing all this extra stuff it's not going to benefit the customer or change the end result because of how long this guy goes without detailing. If he was once a month then yeah all the extra shit would benefit the customer cause then the condition of the car would hold up. No products are going to help this car last 2 years till next service

The problem with your comment is you aren't a detailer. If you were you know how insanely long it would take JUST to clean a tire and rim 4 times around the vehicle on a car that hasn't had the detailer touch it in 2 years. does that customer really give a crap about their car? not enough to waste our hard hours aiming for absolute perfection when they aren't even capable of seeing it.
@erikr8354 жыл бұрын
That’s counter productive. At want point are you wasting your time and minimizing your profits? Think about the opportunity cost. Each vehicle and client is unique. If you want to be profitable, you must find the right balance.

Glad I saw this. I recently purchased a set of Continental Pure Contact LS. While they are awesome performance wise, they are a nightmare to detail. After several scrub downs with super clean (2:1) they still look like crap. Lots of blotchy brown throughout. Trying to apply any type of dressing (water based or silicone) is just as frustrating. Some parts of the tire look great, other parts look like no dressing has been applied (best way to describe it as 'dry spots'). I'm about ready to give up and just live with it. Any and all recommendations are appreciated!! Thanks!

I wouldn't use anyone who puts their tools on the ground, uses one bucket when wet washing and starts washing on the bumper. I'm no pro but this is just basic stuff, whatever the car / customer.
@mamba1095 жыл бұрын
Using multiple towels is actually safer than 2 buckets. Using a plastic sifter to "trap" dirt at the bottom is the single most deceiving lie they tell you. Honestly, unless you're cleaning pebbles and rocks off your car, a little sifter isn't going to do shit because solid tiny harsh particles will still float all over your "clean" bucket. Using a *single* towel to do an entire car with a 2 bucket method will 100% ensure you're reintroducing particles back into that towel. Have a foamy bucket with all your towels in it, 1 towel per panel, once it's done, toss it. The bucket stays contaminant-free, every towel used is absolutely clean, and you're saving yourself from filling up 2 buckets of water. Save money, save time, save the environment.
@Deantrey5 жыл бұрын
Key word here is "I'm no pro." You use the 2 bucket method because you do not know how to think for yourself. It's the way everyone does it so that's the way you do it. It's a completely illogical way to wash a car, but you cannot recognize that because you have not taken the effort to think for yourself and use your own logic.

The Gary dean wash method. You really should check out his products. His infinite use detail juice is perfect for this type of wash method considering he created it around this method. It is way better then onr and way more versatile in my opinion. Depending on how you dilute the concentrate you can do rinse less wash use as spray sealant clay lube, interior wipe downs. And straight it can dress tires and interiors including conditioning leather. It is the best product I have used! A real time saver because you can wash clay and seal each panel one at a time and be done quickly and have insane gloss with some protection.

What happens when you live and detail in an area where everyone has BMW’s, Tesla’s, but mostly bigger GMC Denali, Cadillac, Suburbans and Super nice brand new truck that are used to getting regular details? My first detail (haven’t done it yet because I’m just starting out) will be with someone who isn’t happy with their regular detailer, and is interested in having me detail what she drives. Which I have no idea what vehicle that is, because this client is a friend of my mom’s, and I haven’t had a chance to talk to her yet. Just knowing she lives down the street and a little bit about the cars in the area, it’s most likely going to be a newer suv that we already know gets detailed regularly. So an expensive vehicle with a super picky client, and I’m just starting out. What would your best advice be in a situation like this? When I detail my car, I’m OCD and I take around 3-4 hours on just the exterior, getting everything as perfect as I can. How would you deal with a client like this? Any advice? I want to do a great OCD job, yet I’m sure this client is used to a really quick detail. And of course this will be my very first client.
