Josh told me he used the line 6 to comp for the moogs that John used to chain together with the cards. He said he the line 6 was used to just comp that sound John achieved with all those Moogs chained together. I think it was the purple Line 6 unit the FM4.

he had distortion and a delay on so it started feeding back and when you get feedback+ a delay it starts looping itself and gets some really weird sounds.

He's running through so much shit the audience can't hear all these effects. He could do the entire gig with a wah and a boost pedal, and the audience would not hear the difference. I think it would sound better. In a huge hall, delays, reverbs get lost. Add all the things that can (and do) go wrong and it's more trouble than it's worth.

If that's the sound he wants why the fuck does it matter pedals them days didn't have as many options so they didn't use as many I'm sure even Hendrix would have played around with a pedalboard like Josh's if he had the chance

So what. Frusciante ( old guitarist rhcp) had also such a big pedalboard. But he also played with only 3 effects on woodstock 99. So yeah. Doesn't really matter when you are really good. But John frusciante is one of the best guitarist off all time. Josh is a different story....

Hendrix didn't just have that. The largest rig I've come to understand he had was three marshall stacks, all preamped by a mystery fuzz (Marshall amps didn't always have that much gain), run into by a wah (Or fuzz face first, he changed the order sometimes) fuzz face (modified by Roger Mayer), Octavia, and univibe. I use about 18 pedals, but they're all for distinct sounds. I only have one delay, and zero reverbs. IMO that's where pedalboards fall apart, when there is so much un-unique delay and reverb that it just sounds washed out and wetter than the pacific. Other times pedalboards are shit when they have too many of the same pedal in a different case. I once saw a player who had a double muff, big muff, way huge swollen pickle, and a modified fuzz face all on one board. They all. Sounded. The fucking same. I asked them why they had all of those, and they simply responded "I like that one for this part of that song because it's darker blah blah". All they had to do was turn their tone knob 1 level on their guitar. It's beyond me.
