I have sutured quite a few left leg chainsaw lacerations practicing in my now ex-timber town. You always have your chaps on. This sets a great example for nonprofessional weekend fallers like me.

When my Dad started me on the chainsaw as a teenager, he required that I wear them as long as I am working for him. Fortunately the habit stuck because I hate lacerations. I have never had one but I know I don’t like them.

Should have left the truck there.. ain’t like you would be losing anything .. it’s a FORD… 😂 I don’t think you would get three logs out of that crocked thing. But I got to say, they lumber turned out blue stained nice. By the way .. on that old Ford, that 7.3 is about the best money Can buy.
@WilsonForestLands Жыл бұрын
Yep it would have been fine if I left it. I can imagine all the comments I would have had if I did. Yep that 7.3 has been a good one. I am surprised I haven’t been razzed more about my Fords.

Somewhere a boat builder cries at 2:55 as he cuts a perfect boat hull beam into fire wood. That is some beautiful wood.

lol cracking me up! Darn camera's forgetting to record!!!😂😮😅 Mine just decides to shut off to

If only I could train my cameras to make these decisions for good instead of for missing things. I haven’t yet had a situation where the camera just turned on by itself and happened to catch some unexpected good footage.

@@WilsonForestLands Right? I mean, if it's going to have a mind of it's own the least it could do is turn ON when something good is about to happen 🤪

Should have left the truck, I would have loved to seen the safety sally comments knowing your an experienced logger
@WilsonForestLands Жыл бұрын
Yeah that would be entertaining. But with experience comes the knowledge that trees don’t always do what they are expected to do.

I dont care about the car - not mine - but how could you stop cutting in the middle of cutting down the tree - and next thing is to walk around in front of the tree you would like to cut down... thats irresponsible and dangerous. 🤣🤣🤣 btw. you would not have hit the car... so all good. 😜

Stickers be milled out of those logs? I'm obviously new to this field but I know you have to have what we use to call stacking sticks. If I do get a mill I definitely want the most efficient way to get stickers.

Sawing a crooked tree? Yeah cut your logs out of the straight sections and then saw as normal. WoW that was hard.

I knew a guy (mostly described as dumb as a box of rocks) who did leave his truck and then cut the tree. The bed was ever after shaped like a "V". We called him "TexLax". Fun times!

I wasn't gonna comment on that but if you felt comfortable leaving your truck there then I felt comfortable you leaving your truck there lol...cheers

It’s probably easier for you to be comfortable with it since it isn’t yours. 😁

From what I hear, chickens love those big white bugs...perhaps a side hustle for you 🤣
@WilsonForestLands Жыл бұрын
At a house I lived in long ago, there was a friendly stray cat in the area. When I would go out to the shed to split wood, it would come in and eat the grubs. If the chicken side hustle doesn’t work out, maybe cats.

When I was selling lumber I had a warehouse in town that I would meet people at to sell it. But I haven’t been selling lumber now that prices and demand have dropped.
