In college I got to see players up close and judge them by my own height and was shocked at how short they were. Douglas Edwards who was a hot prospect out of Florida State was at least two or three inches shorter than his listed 6'9". Christian Laettner was maybe 6'9", not 6'11". Eric Montross on the other hand was a full 7'0" Probably an inch or two more. I was like is this professional wrestling or something?

Shoes add anywhere between 1 and 1 1/4 inches of height depending on make and style. Also some players are longer than others. That is why wingspan(arm length) matters. Kevin Willis for example had short arms and Scottie Pippen had long arms. Kevin was at least 4 inches taller in height but Pippen was longer because of wingspan.

If you're trying to actually figure out exact height in comparison to other players you need more than a couple pictures. You need a lot of pictures and they need to be wearing pretty much the same shoe if they're wearing shoes at all. In the pictures with Serge ibaka KD and Russell Westbrook, KD looks taller in the picture on the left but he looks shorter in the picture on the right. I'm guessing they're right around the same size because ibaka isn't standing up straight on the picture on the left. My guess is that ibaka is a little more than a half an inch taller than KD. I just started this video but I have a feeling you're going to use one or two photos to try to make a case when like I said earlier you need a lot of different angles and you need a constant which is the same height shoe. On top of that you have to make sure the guy standing up as straight as possible.😊

They are not lying. Its just about the instrument, how they were measured, when, the age factor where you may stop to grow at 17 or at 23-24. Also the play basketball factor where you can win few cm while constantly practicing and playing, to lose them when you stop to play. The bigger differences can be one measure with basketball shoes and the other without, one at 18 and other at 23, plus with or without shoes. Smaller one like Klay can just be the same... Like 6'6,5 for both and one was rounded to 6'6 while the other to 6'7.
