Thanks for everyone that's watches the round video's. I was quite taken back with the amount of views and comments on the last one. This was another frustrating round but it will come soon, having more people follow along gives even more motivation to really go in on this!

You dead well considering the conditions. Rounds like that can be a dripping tap of building frustration. You.made a good point about keeping the concentration throughout 4 hours. The mental game at pro level is probably 80% of your round. Keep working on that and you'll go big guns mate. Jesus, that wind!!!

Think it's underestimated how tiring golf is and how much that affects concentration. A non golfer would think it's a breeze but it's a slog and draining. Keep up the good work 👍

These vlogs are a great insight into competitive golf. Interesting to see players like Paul Waring shooting +10 over two rounds. When the wind is blowing like that you have to be totally committed on a swing shape. The fade move looks so much better for you mate
@gileshyland25733 жыл бұрын
These shot by shot walkthroughs are so insightful. Especially around your decision making and plotting your way round a course, playing the percentages. I thought your point on concentration was interesting. I remember Mike Atherton saying something similar about him needing to bat a long innings and having to learn to switch off his concentration or allow his mind to wander between shots, or when he was at the non strikers end, as being switched on for 4-5 hours is energy sapping, and a player actually only probably really needs to focus at specific times, not 100% of the time.

Looked really tough and agree it's getting closer - the swing looks so much better than last year - a few competitive rounds under your belt and identification of where things were less than perfect should get you back on track for future rounds. Looked at the schedule for future rounds and you're playing some decent tracks - some summer weather conditions and you'll be shooting up the leader board - keep it going James!

James I am currently going thru the same struggles you are.I play practice rounds with fellow competitors before each tournament at the course we will be playing.And I play very solid alot of the times winning the lowest score bet in our group or 2 groups.I shoot mid 70,s in my practice rounds and the next day In the tournament I'm lucky to break 80 and i don't know who the imposter is in my body.Im not nervous really a little early maybe.But I think its putting to much expectation on ourselves.I cant speak for you but I know I out work all my competitors by a long shot but I still keep having these blow up holes that only show themselves in my tournament rounds.Keep grinding and I have faith it will come and come in bunches when it does.good luck Jane's keep showing your story it will only make you better.

I suspect that you were just one of many competitors whose head went into meltdown in those conditions but overall you appear to be very resilient so we know you'll keep trying. I suppose these videos are probably easy to produce as long as you have a cameraman but it takes a lot of courage to show your whole round and whilst you're probably disappointed with the final score, you did create lots of chances early in the round. Good luck, you're still improving.

Unlucky mate, get days like that sometimes. I’ve changed a few clubs in the bag recently and had shocking rounds, probably worst I’ve ever had. Hey James....don't be to hard on your self. Playing bloody good considering you've swapped clubs and it's a learning curve you're in. Keep up the good work. Regarding concentration....tiger used the 3 step and glove method....3 steps away and he starts to concentrate on the shot (putting on his glove)....3 steps after (away) and he forgets the shot. (taking off his glove).

Looks like you’re hitting it pretty solid at the minute James, just struggling for a bit of confidence! You holed a lot of really good par saves, and left a good few birdies out there, if you find a way to capture your mentality on those par putts and get the birdies dropping in you’ll be flying, easier said than done of course! But I find I always make a few silly bogeys or the odd double, but if you can drop in 3 or 4 birdies every round it makes such a big difference
