Well it sounds like the heated vest is quite helpful for cycling for sure and there might be at least a little benefit from using the gloves and socks possibly. I guess that the concept sounds pretty worthwhile overall and worth a try anyway. Thanks for testing them out and giving us your thoughts and opinions. And thanks for sharing another of your outings with us and allowing us to absorb some of the beauty of the area and a little portion of the history. Those cottages are just amazing and with so much quality in the way they were designed and built. They look like they are very well preserved and should be around for many more decades for all to enjoy. I am looking forward to your future adventures, see you on the next one.

Thanks Terry, The vest works quite well I think, as for the others I'm not sure, I was expecting more warmth from the gloves, maybe as temps drop they will get hotter??

As a year round motorcycle rider of some 50 years.. several as a full time instructor..so out for hours in the wet and cold..l have tried everything to combat to the rain and cold Modern clothing has improved so much over the years... BUT a couple of my tips are Heated vests / jackets are a game changer...keeps your core warm and comfortable..and you can focus on the ride The biggest issues was always my hands. Yes..heated grips/ gloves help.. BUT the rain is then still an issue Solution...which many will not use as the look crap..lol Quality handlebar muffs..and heated grips Hands kept dry..and warm ..and you can still wear summer gloves for greater dexterity Stay safe

As a 19 year old I rode home from the lakes to south London in rain most of the way and gloves that were showerproof. When I stopped to refuel an older rider told me to put plastic bags over my gloves to keep the wind off. Very thin bags. Held the twist grip well enough and helped me get warm again. While riding take in a deep breath try and shut your mouth and nasal passages and squeeze hard with the diaphragm helps build some body heat quickly. Best thing I ever bought was a hi viz contractors coat to wear over all my bike gear.

Hi Sandy. After watching your previous vid on the Kemimoto heated gilet, I bought one for my wife, who feels the cold more than I do, not that she ever rides pillion, just uses it when she's watching TV, reading, sewing etc. Saves having to turn-on the central heating so often. The only downside is that it take a long time to recharge the battery, so having a spare would be good. Right, have to go and load-up the bike with camping gear now. Off to the woods tonight for my first ever hammock camp. Wish me luck! 😁 Take care.

I find now that I've reached that age where all of a sudden nands feet get cold easy I might consider heated items if and when I decide to go out for any prolonged period of time. Back 25 years ago I used to wear heated gloves and jacket. Here in Colorado if the temperature is 90F down on the plains and in the river valleys on the western slope, the temperature up on the mountain passes is always cold. Certainly can be down to freezing and below. Every day. With me, the secret was keeping the back of my neck warm. Made a shoulder-clenching tooth grinding shivering ride into a totally relaxed easy ride. The brand was Gerbing. Great stuff. Ten degrees F with no problems at all. Running on 12 VDC right off the alternator.

Hi Sandy. I think you need to reavalue the gloves and socks again. Go out again with the same kit on without them switched on. See how cold you get then. A lot of heated products don't try to make your hand hot. They try to keep them feeling neutral. Thats all you need really isn't it, to not feel the cold. The wind chill on gloves is tremendous, try bar muffs aswell as heated gloves if you want your hands hot. I personally prefer them to just feel neutral.

Nice report, Mr. W.M. Thanks. A few years back I got some heated undergloves (Keiss) and for me they were a genuine game-changer when it came to winter riding. My initial experience was similar to yours - I didn't think they were doing much: I disconnected them for the return journey and... ouch! They -were- working, and I now tend to think that "comfortable" hands are what we want, not hot and sweaty hands. Ony real downside, for me, of the heated gloves is this: I started noticing my feet more! I do like the idea of that vest though (o: Aside: you may already know, but I think (if not) you'll enjoy The Prehistory Guys' latest YT - all about Long Barrows, most of which you'll know about, I am sure.

You're making a habit of falling over at the moment, take care now. Interesting findings for the heated gear. I seem to remember that the resident of the cottage on the right at Arlington Row parked a yellow car outside his house and the others in the village got a petition up to get it moved. Hi Sandy, your vest battery connector looks very much like mine which is a usb. I added a USB adapter to my battery charging cable and plug my vest into that; no battery anxiety. For my hands I have Volt Fusion motorcycle gauntlets. They are truly windproof. They can use batteries or a 12 volt supply. On 12 volt I only ever need to run them on blue. I use batteries when mountain biking and they don't work nearly as well. ATB

I have had a kemi moto heated jacket for 2 years now and it is very good. Water proof, wind proof and still using original battery pack plus other 5 volt USB packs for extend time. I also have 2 pairs of the gloves, one like you have and one made for motorcycle use. The warmth is about as you describe but at 10 degrees F they tend to get cold. They are water proof. After 2 years on the gloves both battery packs are failing. A 5 volt USB system like the coat would be much better choice as USB power packs easy to get. I have bought a different brand of glove with USB power but really have not got to use them yet. Again the coat is warm even on the low setting. Larry

Great Video Sandy. I feel that once you have all your liners back in your jacket and trousers you will feel much warmer all round. Lechlade Bridge was closed from June 20th through till Friday 3rd of November. Totally agree that it could have been fixed quite quickly and without the need to close it for all that time. Just close it for the time the repairs were being carried out!! Hannington Wick has been closed longer than our bridge I think!! Again, is it necessary to be closed at all and for this length of time? Dont even know what the reason for closure is on that one!!

Perfect dismount brother! You didn't try to "catch" the bike, you just let it go to the ground and stepped off. I had a buddy break his ankle on one of these silly dumps by trying to lever the bike with his onside leg to keep it upright and caught his ankle under the peg, and "snap!" You can always pick the bike back up, but it's rather more difficult to mend a bone on the side of the road, as well you know ;-)) I'm going to check out the Kemimoto vest, it looks like what I've been searching for. How does it fit under the arms when you're wearing it with the jacket? Also, can it be hooked into your bikes electrical system?

I have tried many different gloves and even change then after about an hour or so, my hands sweat a lot and soon make the inside damp, consequently the old hands get cold quickly. Heat gloves could be the way forward. Good test review. Thanks.

I returned the $130 USD version of their gloves, the heated socks, the jacket and the pants... IMO these are not good for motorcycling, there was not enough heat being produced by any of those products for cold weather riding. 30 degrees F out, maybe doing 40mph, could not even feel the heat in the gloves.. if your going to drop this much money on heated gear, just got full out and buy something like Harley, or Gerbing. They are more expensive, but you do get what you pay for.
