A Rainy ride to the Cotswolds, Two Trikes and One Bike :) Wiltshire Man

A lovely day ride out to the Cotswolds, we travelled the Southrop and the Barringtons and had a lunch break at Sherbourne where we met up with fellow Recumbent trike rider Geoff.
A visit to the church at Sherborne St Mary Magdalene rounded off the adventure very well.

This is a lovely route and generally the traffic is very light, ideal for bikes and trikes:)

I really don't see any need for apologies for what content that you are producing in your videos Sandy. I look at it as that you are kind enough to invite us to go along with you on your adventures no matter what they are. I appreciate the opportunity to view the different cultures, norms, and histories of an amazingly beautiful country with some of the best preserved ancient buildings on our planet. Whatever means that you choose to travel with makes very little difference. I am along to share your time and experiences. There are very few KZbin channels available out there that offer such a wide variety of interesting experiences. You just keep doing what you are doing and your channel will outlast them all my friend, I will definitely see you on the next one.

What I love about this country is the way architecture changes as you move from one area to another. Like how hedgerows become stonewall as you move up country. And the way brickwork and type changes too. Great ride out. Happy anniversary to you and Mandy.

Hi Sandy, and Congratulations to you and Mandy on your 37th Anniversary. My Wife Liz and I have been together now for over 30 years (Married 25 years this May). She had an AN back in 2004, which left her completely deaf on her left side and with significant balance issues, which put an end to serious Hillwalking and Cycling. I bought a tandem, hoping I could take her out on that but she didn't take to it, so it's just lying in a shed now. Too old now (both in our 70s) but trike riding looks so much fun! Love watching all your exploits.

Hi Peter, luckily for me balance hasn't been too much of a problem, the AN surgery has left me with minor balance issues and deafness/facial paralysis and tinnitus but I have learned to overcome and cope with my situation to a good extent. Shame she can't ride the Tandem, a trike is much more comfortable and stable and I am enjoying it a lot, it won't completely replace the two wheelers as there's places they can go that the trike can't like off road and along muddy single tracks:)

I enjoy your videos. We are similar, cva er myself ( yes I read your Medical History so know we ar different), no need to share. I'm very very lucky and very grateful. I have got to the stage of not sleeping as pain is constant. But my bike oxygenates me and makes me a bit better. I haven't fallen yet but I do have balance issues. I'm searching for a cycle buddy. You and your mates are so good. Today I feel very sad my trip to my Dr and he granted me a Disability pension. Yes thinking of a Recumbent trike, the lack of height and the width in traffic bothers me. My bike rides I almost get hit one out of five by abusive drivers.

@@hArtyTruffle I wouldn't worry about that, a trike is unlikely to break but parts will wear out and these are all consumables that are easily replaced, chain,rear cassette, chain rings, derailleurs will all need upkeep in time, none is overly expensive

Well done , 50 miles , I cycled 60 miles three or four times in my youth and that was enough for me , I haven’t cycled for many years now but I’m 87 so maybe just as well …Wow ! Just looked the price of a trike up , they don’t come cheap do they .

Trikes aren't cheap but they are affordable if you buy them second hand. As an older person they would be more comfortable and easier to ride than a bike

Nice ride Sandy . I don't know why the trike can't go faster . You seem to have a large and a small sprocket on the crank and a variety of gears on the gear cluster , must be the smaller wheels that make for slower speeds . Dave was on his e-bike i see which i think is a better option for oldies like me , i can cruise at 25kph easily :-)

I think it just comes down to weight, trikes are a bit heavier and a little more rolling resistance due to the third wheel, wheel size will not have much to do with speed.

Congrats on 44 years Peter, I use a Garmin Edge explore bike gps which is linked to my phone and automatically uploads my rides to Strava, this way I can keep track of all the mileages each bike covers over time

hi Mark I don't use any fixed camera mounts, I either hand hold the cameras or have a mouth mount that you hold with your teeth allowing both hands free. I also have a selfie stick that has a screw on spike so I can use it as a self supporting monopod, it means I can get the camera off the ground upto 4ft
