Hi Liv. My favorite car when I worked at burger king in high school when I was on foot. When watching and listening you said "crappiest car" just when I was admiring the look at it in that trailer with the Awesome Rear End Differential and Carriage Assembly and this car's personality went from Tempest to Temptress. I'm loving each step of this project Liv, thanks for sharing your Tempest experience. You deserve this Wilwood treatment and so does the Temptress oops, I mean Tempest. I too do my own hands-on maint & modifications on my vehicles and I recently installed a new front suspension and brakes on the front end of my 78 Vette I went with the Willwoods too and It's amazing how well the car's brake performance personality improved so tremendously. They had the perfect kit for my car. Keep up the the good work with informative videos Liv, good things happen to good people too. TO

Liv, yes the car was ratty then, but y'all are working so hard to make it cool. I saw a video way back when, when you first dragged the Tempest out of the yard where you found it and you've brought the car so far! This is a catch up video for me. I've just watched the video where you got back from Canada and the guys got your interior finished. I'm looking forward to seeing the Ol' Girl roar to Life again. The guys and you have done a ton of Good Work!

Good Job getting free brakes! Just as a note. Doing some diligent searching of used markets and junk yards can reward people with factory disk brakes. Any GM A body with Disk brakes is a nice and reasonable swap to earlier and non equipped drum brake cars..

Can't wait to get your feedback on the "pedal effort" on these. I went with a lesser brand & it requires a BUNCH of brake effort. ( single piston calipers) Which doesn't give you any confidence in traffic. I've driven plenty of 4 wheel manual drums & was hoping for the same feel w/ better stopping power. Keep us posted, love the footage

You just need to swap in a master with a larger bore.
@festerhairball65882 жыл бұрын
@@dclipper8052 I bet that would work, I went with the recommended size , which was 1" if I remember correctly.Thanks for the advice 🙂👍

@@festerhairball6588 I swapped my '66 GTO to manual disc/drum but it's been so long that I don't remember the specifics so I avoided getting into details. However, I think I might recall that I used a 1 1/8" master. Whatever I decided, it was based on guidance I gleaned from online forums and I was very pleasantly surprised by how good the brakes felt and how much less the required effort was than what I was fearing it would be.

We just finished the pro kit on my 17 year old sons 71 Monte Carlo with the billet hub to fit inside of the 15” rims, we used the ones with the environmental seals. I don’t know how impressed I am with the kit, the size of the caliper and pads doesn’t seem big enough for a car of that weight street driven, but we will see how it goes next week after it gets aligned

I have a numbers matching 69 Olds 442 Convertible with power drum brakes. My whole time owning this car since 1978 I wanted to keep it all original. Afteer going thru a puddle and losing my brakes i said for safety sake I have to go disc brakes. Put a Wilwood kit on my car and will never go back. I saved my old parts but they will never go back as long as I own it.
