This was a great interview, thank you! I am reading Men Are From Mars right now and it has CHANGED my whole life and perspective and I'm only halfway through! I never EVER wanted to read any self-help or relationship books because I never wanted to be "that woman". I scorned that kind of thing thinking it was weak, silly, that men (and other women) wouldn't take me seriously or respect me. I always prided myself on being intelligent, cultured, dignified and I always felt so conflicted inside because I also felt so feminine and vulnerable and longed for romance and true love but the idea of showing any part of that just horrified me. Men would not respect me or would use me... We have been trained to think that vulnerable, feminine, emotional and soft = weak, stupid, silly and incompetent. I thought I wasn't that binary and rigid but I was. I am still having a hard time getting over that feeling. I really dread a man thinking I'm silly or dismissing my feelings as insane or worse - stupid, childish and weak. But I took John's dating advice on a date I recently went on - my GOD it had such an effect. I'm about to go on a long rant but I was just so amazed and I want to share what happened. So, like he says, I told myself 'this man is NOT going to be my soulmate, so I'm just going to go out to have a good time and USE him to make me happy.' - I always thought the idea of using a man was horrible, because I don't want to be used, but now I see men just don't want to be useLESS. They love making us happy! What a revelation! Then on the date, all I did was show a lot of happiness and appreciation for where he took me (and it was sincere, I *was* happy about his plan) and I talked this man's head off for 3 hours. He was enthralled! And I NEVER PLAYED DUMB or hid my opinions (which is something I could never do anyway). I talked about art, culture, politics, literature, music - and I knew more than him on ALL these subjects, yet he never seemed to mind or feel intimidated. However, he is a finance guy and I admitted I didn't understand economics / maths at all - which I had no trouble doing because I didn't worry he wouldn't respect me or care about what I had to say. The entire time he was only looking at me, smiling. The few times he did speak, I would say 'that's so true!' and 'you're right!' (when I agreed) and 'that makes sense' when I didn't (which was true, it did make sense, I just had a different opinion, which I would then share!). Afterwards he just had this dopey grin on his face, he paid for everything (less and less common in our modern, cosmopolitan dating landscape - I live in Paris) and afterwards he thanked ME! and I did nothing! and the whole time cycling home, I could not stop smiling. It's been two days and I still feel great about this. I used to hate and despise men, I used to think they were selfish, I felt so hurt by men, so let down, so disappointed and desperate - suddenly it has all melted away! I feel powerful AND I feel love and empathy and understanding towards men at the same time. I never ever thought that would be possible! I'm so grateful for John's books and also for the interview you did which was really great and now I'm subscribed! Keep up the good work girl!

Talking about attraction, sometimes the initial way to begin to meet does not happen on a personal basis. We scroll thru dating sites choosing to indicate who you wish to talk to because of what they have written about themselves or sometimes just the way they look. For a woman sometimes it is that the man has chosen them. But in both cases no conversation let alone the sound if their voice has occurred. The first challenge then becomes to come to an agreement to at least talk and the second challenge is THEN see if a date is possible. So many times (for me) there have been days of exchanging txts and then suddenly there is nothing, their gone, they ghosted and one does not know why. Since learning of Dr Gray Im developing a new strategy . After a feq more experiences with it would you care to hear my experience with it?

It is best for us to move quickly to a phone call and to meeting them in person. If he is texting for days and doesn't want to meet or talk over the phone I wouldn't invest any energy on him and move on to the next one😊
