This movie has such a silly and ridiculous concept that it totally shouldn’t work. But it completely does! It’s greatness lies in its delivery. The filmmakers were able to create an underdog teen movie story, that’s relatable and hits you right in the feels. Despite the ridiculous surmise of teenage werewolves lol. There were so many cool, unique scenes throughout the film (surfing atop the moving truck, trying to buy beer, the school dance scene) and it’s all so fully fleshed out and complete. They truly don’t make movies like this anymore. Good storyline, solid characters , good acting, perfect soundtrack, fun and entertaining scenes, and a feel good ending. One of my favorite films from childhood!

When you really analyze it, and seen it as many times as I have, this is arguably one of the best basketball movie sequence/ montages ever made. Such an abnormally vast amount of aggressive defense, offensive assistance, shot blocking, and inside offensive. Not to mention, being able to feel like a giant bc you get to hold MJF in celebration between scores. Just the right level of typical 80’s slow motion. MJ’s behind the back assist is actually used twice, but the scene is too good to notice. Did I mention Chubb’s epic hook shot and pick that knocks Mick on his ass? And they managed to win in the end with only 4 players haha.

Very meaningful and realistic scene there at the end between Boof and Pamela. Scott always knew that Boof was always the biggest supporter throughout his whole journey and the only girl that actually cared about him as a person. I love how he just goes past Pamela, acting like she’s not even there at all and just goes straight to the REAL person where the real love is. Just goes to show that Pamela only cared about Scotts popularity and wolf 🐺 form. But whether rich or poor, popular or unpopular, tall or short, Boof is the girl that cares only about the heart ❤️ in someone. Can’t imagine if Boof had been the one that got ignored. Would’ve been pretty sad….

This montage with the song actually makes me think of the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2014-2015 season. They were doing good but then one of their star player, Patrick Kane got seriously injured by being fouled. He was going to be out for the rest of the regular season but would be better in time for the playoffs. But many people thought that with Kane out, they'd never make it to the playoffs now. Even I had my doubts. But the team pulled together and won more than enough games to get into the playoffs and to top it off, THEY WON THE STANLEY CUP! Just like in this montage, the team won because they worked together as a team instead of relying on just one player.

Teen Wolf is definitely a cult classic, but is not often name-checked as one of the "Great" films of it's generation, but this scene alone encapsulates so many reasons that it SHOULD be. Here is a very long list of reasons I believe this- 1) Brilliantly Cast- The best evidence of this is watching the second film. "Teen Wolf Too", if released on it's own was quite honestly not the WORST film. It stacked up against most of it's peer films from the era. But it lacks anything special, mostly due to casting. Not even another brilliant young talent named Jason Bateman was able to breathe any kind of life into that doomed film. Every Character in the original is played by someone who was irreplaceable. From the Michael J. Fox, to his close friends Boof and Stiles, Mick, Pamela Wells, Mr. Howard, and even the background players who were consistently present through the film. They were all totally believable. 2) Sports Action- THIS might be the biggest success of the film. It is easy to mistake acting like a "Bad" team for being a bad team. It's not just a matter of bumbling around or deliberately missing shots. The Beavers basketball team actually goes through an evolution, motivated by Scott's transformation to the wolf. Although he undermines his own team as his ego grows, they still do start to look like a team. Once this scene rolls around, they have grown enough to be able to come together with proper leadership and pull off the impossible. But above that, is the cinematography of the scene. It is SO well shot! It looks like two high school teams. Not "Superstars", but two average teams from the white-American suburbs. In sports films, you instinctively know that the protagonists are going to win. Despite this, the great films still manage to create a sense of tension.I remember this scene as a kid, and even when I Watch it now has a genuine "Edge of your seat" feel. Basketball in my high school (also in white-suburban America" was a HUGE deal. Small packed gym with intense game action, felt like a million degrees, so noisy you can barely think, that really comes to life here. Because of the gameplay, the comeback is believable, and everything from the made shots, to the dumb misses, to the bumbling at times just looks and feels like most high school basketball. Even the audience reactions are amazing. This was done before the era where ALL sound was done in post production, so we're hearing genuine human reactions that just bring back those feelings in the real gym watching games. Even the commonly name-checked "Great" sports films lack this quality. Films like "Hoosiers", "Remember the Titans", "Rudy", "Field of Dreams", and many others actually annoy me because the game play is nowhere near being believable. When it's not believable gameplay, the moments are robbed of their tension. And without tension, there can be no genuine release. If you don't believe me, go back and watch those films. Focus only on the gameplay with sound off to really see how bad it is. Most of those films are actually laughable when you watch. It doesn't feel like they pull of a miracle, it feels like they win because the script says so. Great sports films keep you on the edge even when you know the outcome. Like "Miracle" where literally everyone on earth knows that USA beats Russia is still so suspenseful because of how it's shot. 3) Subverting the sports narrative I think the this final scene brings everything together and one of the most satisfying conclusions to a film ever and it does it without giving in to the normal. First, the choice of "Win in the End" was brilliant. That song and it's lyrics are so perfect for this moment. It's not about being "Better" than anyone. It's not even really about competition like "Eye of the Tiger" from Rocky or "You're the Best" from Karate Kid. This song is about not hiding from your own identity which lines up with Scott's decision NOT to be the Wolf even when he knows it guarantees victory. It's about rising up, conquering fears, knowing you can reach beyond your limits and find your potential. (Google the lyrics... its brilliant!). Second- The honest portrayal of the game. Low scoring, no unbelievably impressive athleticism, no "Buzzer beater from Downtown" type shots, this is just gritty and real. Third- The way Scott finally wins. Control of his emotions, ending his selfish ways, showing maturity, and Focus. He shows control of his emotions while taking a literal beating from Mick the entire game. He is in control enough not to retaliate and draw dumb fouls and hurt his team. Then, he is unselfish and gets his teammates involved in the game. By leading instead of pushing them out of the way, he is able to get them to play their best which is what they needed to overcome a superior opponent. The choice to have the game end with two free throws might be the most brilliant ending possible. Most people think of Free-throws as easy, or a "gimmie". Not true. Free throws take skill, but above all, they take focus, and control. This is precisely what Scott has learned throughout his journey. Any other film would have had him win on a three-pointer or a buzzer-beater from Half-court. Instead, Scott wins by showing his growth, maturation, and ability to control his emotions. Lastly, my very favorite moment comes at the end. While watching his son overcome all of his obstacles, then choosing Boof over Pamela, the father just sits there in the stands for a few seconds giving his son that moment. He just watches with the most proud look imaginable on his face. Truly a brilliant ending to a film that was probably so close to being just another ridiculous teen-comedy. If you read this far, you are a trooper. Sorry for the book, but I had a lot of feelings to get out after watching this for the first time in many years!

It was like the 1998, 1999 early 2000s Utah Jazz offense where they would do alot of UCLA cuts and Chubbs would do screans for M.J.F. and someone also mentioned his support cast of help from shot blocking and rebounding from his other teammates and outlet passes for quick scores. Hard earned baskets with no jump shots all in the paint!

one of the most heavily recruited areas in the world right now. Seton Hall in '89 (robbed of the national title) had a great shooter in Andrew Gaze and then the late great coach Rick Majerus started making Australian recruits a top priority at St. Louis. They are fundamentally sound and well-coached by the time they get here.

Funny watching this and considering today's rules. Mick would've been gone much sooner with two flagrant/intentional fouls. This could've been a four-point play since the Dragons should've gotten a T for Mick remaining on the floor after being disqualified.
