No homo, to me u have a very soothing calming voice, so I rewatch- actually just listen, to vids I know to help me fall asleep. I do this with vids I've heard so I'm not staying awake anticipating what happens, but figured I'd throw that out there- that being said more playlists would benefit me for that reason(10-13 min isn't quite long enough lol)

Good to see poker catching on in Korea!!

Nice to see a hand from korea! There is such massive demand for poker in korea whether live or online. I'm really curious/excited about what GG was producing in korea. I'm korean american, can speak korean, and been playing poker recreationally for years. I was in korea recently and was super excited to play poker for the first time there and got to say my experience was interesting. I played at a legal "card room" in Jamsil, most likely a repurposed bar, and this place only had hyper turbo tournaments(10 secs max for every decision). Cash games at these kinds of places are still illegal. I'm not sure how legit this place was for the following reasons: There isn't a floor/tournament manager in case of hand disputes, just some general manager who mostly acted as the bank. The dealers are just attractive girls wearing normal clothes and I don't think they have power/knowledge to settle disputes either. There was no ledger displayed in terms of players or prize pool. I experienced some disrespectful behavior too. For example, I asked a basic question about the blind setup and guy at my table who seemed close to the dealers snapped at me with informal talk. I could care less about this in the states, but as context it's really disrespectful to speak informally to strangers. Also, the guy who knocked me out with runner, runner wheel vs QQ slow rolled me lmaoo. And it was the slow roll where he only shows his top card first (ace), then reveals card below like he was in a low budget Rounders. Again its my first time playing in korea but I'm sure the spirit of a slow roll to an absolute stranger is universal. And I'm not accusing any cheating, but this guy was also close with all the dealers and he hit runner, runner twice on me when I was all in, and did the same to other at the table. Again, this is my experience and was stoked to play any poker in korea, but left feeling a bit uneasy/unsure about poker culture in korea

In an Asian game where I put most opponents on ANY flush draw, I would play like hero everytime. I think if villain had Ahxh, he 100% raises on flop or turn. If we just get to river and then he raises, I'm putting him on mainly lower flushes, sets and sometimes Aces up. But if villain never has nut flush getting to river like here then the reshove prints imo
@guillermoalvarez9400
@guillermoalvarez9400 Жыл бұрын
You can say that the hero made a bad play and got lucky to be called by worse. Alternatively, you can say he made an exploitative play against a villain who overvalued two pair enough to raise the river and then still unable to fold to a 3 bet jam. If you know a villain to be bad enough that he is unable to fold marginal hands then it is a good exploit. If Garrett did this you’d be calling him a genius

I don't see any problem with Heros play (as far as most things, particularly the tank jam). As played villain has top pair to the river, then two pair, and blocks the best flush, which he can use as a bluff so I feel that scenario is much more likely than any AceX of hearts. Only thing that doesn't make much sense is villains tank call imo.
@paulpena5040

On the river there are only 2 possibilities: 1) He has the nut flush 2)He has the A hearts and is bluffing the nut flush. Nothing else makes sense. You ran into scenario 2. Remember he DOESN"T KNOW you have K 10 of hearts. For all he knows you have 4 5 hearts or 4 6 hearts and he KNOWS you don't have the nut flush. So is bluffing really that crazy? Not at all. But calling the jam is just frustration.

cool to see a Korean-american poker community in the comment section.. also a really interesting hand, I was thinking about how to play this river where you almost have 0 bluffs betting into 2 people on the flop, I think theory would really like a block sizing on the river with a lot of hands, then you can turn stuff like AhQx into a 3-bet bluff versus raise.. top set is very difficult to play on this board

plenty of people at these levels simply cannot fold Top pair let alone Two pair, the fact the villain raised river bet with on flush on board tells you everything. In their mind flush is so rare that they simply don't believe you have it if you go bet bet with a draw and they convince themselves you are trying to bluff representing a flush.

actually don't think there is anything wrong with caller's play apart from the logic he uses. half pot bet on the river seems perfectly reasonable given there's a lot of thin value hands we still want to bet, like sets/rivered straights, while we still run into a bunch of Ax hearts hands that we don't want to bet too large. Facing the raise, I would lean towards calling, but I think KThh makes a pretty good jam at some frequency and stops villain from being able to raise call off a hand like this and also just means we can jam more Ahx hands as bluffs when we get raised.

Really need to understand what hands your opponent really can’t have. The times any player would just be calling flop and turn with two pair or sets is almost non existent. And of course the old adage of just bet for value is a simple concept that is still good at low stakes. Fancy play syndrome of inducing bluffs etc should really be reserved for very specific players which are rare at low stakes. Great call and excellent breakdown by Bart as usual. ✅✅

Villains line is actually not even that crazy aside from the preflop call (A8o always a fold and not close). I get raising river when you feel protected against a jam (somehow he was not here) and I get bluff catching this hand if you only expect nuts to rejam for value. Definitely stars aligned for hero to get villain to have a hand that’s not even supposed to be in range where the line works.

@joshmullins4849
@joshmullins4849 Жыл бұрын
@@kennyvoller5419 It’s weird. From the perspective of “people never 3bet bluff shove the river”, sure I’d probably just fold everything and feel fine. If you do feel like villain is capable of bluffing, this hand is about as good as we are going to find as a bluff catcher. It’s a bit double edged though in the sense that, if this were going to be some high level bluff I’d expect the shove to contain Ahx, and that hand is impossible when we have Ah8. So when no value makes sense and no bluff makes sense, it’s usually just a fold and assume that it’s an overplayed hand like what happens here I suppose. When we put hands in our range that don’t belong like A8o it has weird echos all the way down the game tree that we won’t know what to do.

@@joshmullins4849 "When we put hands in our range that don’t belong like A8o it has weird echos all the way down the game tree that we won’t know what to do." That sounds good but I doubt that this applicable here since AhJd plays the same if the river is the Jh but this time you (probably?) won't argue that that AhJd does not belong in villain's pre range. The weird stuff that is happening happens in this hand because a) villain raises the river without the flush and b)hero reraises the river All-In without the nuts and c) villain knows that hero cannot have the nuts and d)villain's hand is certainly good enough to beat any bluff.

@qazzaqstan
@qazzaqstan Жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-nx7zj that was the best I could come up with as well, I mean I guess there aren't that many KhXh opening from +1 either so as long as they can convince themselves hero is just as likely to turn AxKh into a bluff as 3-bet K high flush for value the 40% of the time they are good is enough to call but 3-bet bluffing is just too rare for that to be enough. It almost feels like they are convinced hero never takes this line for value without the nut flush so any bluffs no matter how few hands or how rare the line is enough.

@88mphDrBrown
@88mphDrBrown Жыл бұрын
Idk, I thought about this one a bit. AhX is the most likely bluff candidate, so villain is blocking the most logical bluff. I feel you though cuz hero's shove makes so little sense as anything but the nut flush, I can see how villain mindfucked himself into believing hero had to of been running some unconventional bluff. I think villain's river raise was pretty dumb. I think it would've been a good move if it was a massive overbet, but $400 for $1017 is too good of a price to expect people to fold flushes. Hero's shove is such a suicidally bad play that it convinced the villain no one would do it.
@JohnSmith-nx7zj
@JohnSmith-nx7zj Жыл бұрын
@@88mphDrBrown you think villain’s river raise was as a bluff? I was assuming value. If he was trying to get flushes to fold that seems suicidal, especially for that sizing. I guess the fact that the hand is so in between shows why it was a bad raise. Seems like a clear call in villain’s spot.
@88mphDrBrown
@88mphDrBrown Жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-nx7zj no, I don't think he was bluffing, I think he was going way too thin for value. I think the vast majority of people in hero's seat are going to be extremely hesitant to go for 3 streets of value with just an ace. The only lone aces i think people are going to do that with are AK, AQ, and AJ; even then i think those hands are going to be checked a decent percentage when the front door hits. Not just that but hero's going to fold good aces a large percentage (they're literally the bottom of his value range) so the villain isn't even always going to get value from the small amount of hands he's targeting. What I was saying is that if he's going to raise it should've been huge as a bluff or just call.
@JohnSmith-nx7zj
@JohnSmith-nx7zj Жыл бұрын
@@88mphDrBrown agreed. I think against some very nitty players (who would only bet the river with a flush), villain could actually shove his hand as a bluff. But against most players Ah8x plays best as a call.

My thought when listening to this hand was if you're three bet jamming you're getting called by Ace high flushes and maybe Queen Jack. Based on the board there's really no other heart combinations that he could be playing. And if you're at looking at this from the villain's perspective. You hold the nut card and you're getting three bet. What is hero three bet bluff range KxKh? If I have the nut card and I get three that all in, and he is bluffing. It's important to factor in the As is on board and not the Ah so V could very well be giving us rope and has the NFD that will rarely fold to a third barrel even when hearts miss. Edit: oh man, the river is a 3/4 to a PSB when you get there. The only thing that raises is the NF and you are rarely getting bluffed. Finally got to SD and lol wtf?
